is anyone else annoyed that PS2 games wont be playable on Vita? i have planned to buy alot of PS2 games on PSN as they come out as i missed out on alot of PS2 games because i was young and just played GTA lol. i dont have alot of time at home so this would have been perfect... Vita is more then capable of doing it.. so why not?

They could add a PS2 emulator that would play PS2 games you get from the PSN at a later time. I think that would work out for them, since one would buy the game on the PSN to play it on the Vita, so that wold be good for them no?

It is perfectly logical to make a PS2 emulator for PSVita, but mybe it's not so simple to do it?

Truly a fantastic read..the magic of the rear touch

http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2012-02/17/playstation-vita-rear-touch-screen

Reading the coverage for the device, I've noticed how much focus there is on the ramped up graphics and sound rather than the new ways you can interact with the device. Watching the kids try out the Vita I've been interested to see how they hardly noticed the visuals but found the touch screen and analogue sticks much more enticing.

To be more precise it was the surprise of the rear touchpad that they really liked. They had soon figured out a way to play Little Deviants that involved all three of them. One of them took charge of the front touchscreen, another adopted the face buttons and camera, leaving the oldest to look after the rear touchpad.

Before seeing my children huddled round the game I had thought that the rear touch screen sounded like something of a gimmick, Sony overstretching to find a point of difference in the crowded touch screen market.

Having tried it out, I'm a convert. In fact I wish it was more integral to the Vita. I could avoid leaving so many fingerprints on the screen if I was able to launch games and navigate systems menus via the rear screen. I also think it should mirror the front screen by default as well so that, if not being used for specific rear touch integration, you can access menus and functions in game.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss makes good use of rear touch to manipulate objects that need to be cleaned up by touching the front screen. My kids love this. I've taken to playing the main game while they are doing something else (a family benefit of having adult games on a handheld is being able to play them in the daytime) then hand them the puzzles to solve each time I encounter them.

I'd have liked to be able to throw grenades with the rear touchpad as the front screen method means I'm obscuring the very targets I want to aim at. The climbing and rowing with the rear touch is quite a nice, erm, touch, and of course you have the option to use the front screen if you wish.

Although I've not tried it yet, I like the sound of Virtua Tennis 4's support for rear touch on the Vita. It has a neat local multiplayer mode where two players control their shots with the touch inputs that I know my kids will love. It also enables you to navigate with front or back touch sensors. Sega is usually good at supporting new control systems (most often with Monkey Ball on the various Nintendo systems), but here it has rightly picked up on a much overlooked aspect of the Vita.

Not convinced? Nor was I until I tried it. Having done so I have to admit, much to my offspring's joy, that the Vita's rear touch panel is much more interesting than I first thought.

The bolded: +100.

It would (will I hope) be really cool to controll the vita interface, launch games, scroll pages and eventually (with practice) be able to tap on small things accurately and controll the device interface perfectly, without apparently doing anything with it. Like magic.

I can't understand why they have just announced that they are not planning on doing this.. It's seems so obvious that it needs to be done. If they can get ps3 games to run on it I'm sure they can get ps2 games on there

They haven't got PS3 games to run on it - I'm not sure whether you mean Cross-Play (correct me if I'm wrong) which is basically where the PS3 runs the game and 'streams' it to your Vita, or if you mean stuff like Rayman / UMvC which are ports designed to run on the hardware.

To get PS2 running on Vita the emulator would need to be made to do so - which while possible probably would take some engineering. It might be on Sony's 'to-do' list but it took the PSP 4 year to get PS1 games so I'd imagine they just don't want to make any promises they can't fufil.

That's Remote Play. Cross-Play is when you play Wipeout2048 on the vita against your mom who plays on the PS3 in multiplayer, and she wins.

I've got several japanese demos on my PS3 that I wonder if I can transfer over to my Vita. I got the demos through my Japanese account, but that's not my primary account. Tridrakious is my primary account.

If the licensing is anything like that of the PSP's then no, since each PSV only supports one user account (you can reformat and reassign accounts, but you lose all access to data associated with that orginal account).

I have some PSP and PSOne games on my secondary PSN account and none of those can be transfered to the PSP that's linked to my primary account.

Unless the demos aren't assigned to a specific account, they probably aren't playable on any device that isn't linked to the account that content was purchased/downloaded on.

i can play psp japanese demos on my european account. i'm hoping it will be the same for vita, i downloaded the ragnarok odyssey demo and in information it doesnt seem to be linked to any account, so i'm hoping it will work. 5 days to find out.

Edit: just downloaded the Tales of innocence R demo

exciting! i gotta wait till Wednesday :(

what games you getting?

Does Sony Computer Entertainment Australia even exist? No one here knows about the thing, and there are no bundles or deals worth giving a crap about at any retailer and there's only a week to go. This is pathetic, looks like I might import.
