Rayman Origins is the best platformer ever released. Top notch leves from beginning to end. An absolute pleasure on the vita and well deserved the praise it received. Mainstream gamers are all about what's popular/ what their friends are playing. Ninty could release a terrible Mario game and it would still sell more than all the versions of Rayman combined.

Na mainstream gamer are not lead by their Fanboyism. They just buy what they think is good, they don't care about everything else. And they're right to do so. You liked Rayman Origins, fine for you. I liked it too. But best plateformer ever released ? Really ? Either you should buy Fez, Dustforce, Braid or SuperMeat Boy and see what a quality plateformer either you should just try to not speak about plateformer or game you liked. Because, for sure, you can't discuss without putting your liking off the table.

Seriousely, this thread don't deserve me. Really.

If you feel this way, please post somewhere else then. No one is forcing you to stay and I'm sure we'll survive without you.

Rayman Origins is very well made graphic wise, but the game is just an average plateformer sold at full price. Even 20$€ is too much for it. Same goes for Legends. I'll drop 10 on origins and 15 on Legends (more content) max, and since I'm a good example of what a mainstream gamer is, I bet I'm not alone thinking this way.

Rayman Origins is the most refreshing platformer in whole 7th generation. It was charming, colourful, had tight controls, clever level design, amazing soundtrack... What's wrong with you people?

And what exactly is a mainstream gamer? An opinionless COD/GTA boot?

The game started out fine, but the last levels are what I hate about platformers in general. High speed, no preparation (platforms are flying into the screen moments before you are supposed to land on them etc) trial and error fests.

Additionally the jump behaviour seems pretty inconsistent to me with sometimes jumps being very long and sometimes strangely short (yea I know that tapping will result in a short jump and pressing and holding a bit in a longer jump - and I know that the zoom level varies a lot during the game). I prefer floaty but very consistent jump behaviour like in LBP to that in Rayman O.

The last levels are the best thing in whole game, especially the time trials on them. It's not a trial and error feast it's simply memorisation, once you figure out how the level is paced out it's really simple. I Platinumed this game twice on Vita (on EU and US accounts) and 1st time I needed probably 50 tries to finish the time trial on last level, but on my 2nd play through I did it on my 2nd go.

The best level in game is however the one that you unlock once you collect all teeth.

that's the same thing here as you are certain to die in these stages if you do something without having the exact timing

in Demon's Souls you can hide behind your shield or evade back and watch/memorize enemy patterns that way, but in Rayman O and many other platformers you memorize by dieing a lot

Tis all about the reflexes in those fast levels

I completely agree. It was great from the beginning to the end. I actually feel sorry for people who think it is barely worth ten bucks. Something is really wrong with this.

Totally true! We haven't made anything wrong to deserve you.. :/ But not all is perfect... we deal with you andthe kyllie"mr.over-negative"dog sometimes too...

Joking aside (yeah that above was a joke) I too think Rayman origins is a great platformer and one pretty refreshing and well deserved on reviews and I think any price is good for what offer in quality and content... but What you say about mainstrem guys buying what they think is good.. is part true.. is more like buying what they heard is good.. sadlly the times when platformer where something big have changed, and like You said Ubi and others company should ajusdt the prices on the games... and actually! Rayman Origins when was announced was said to be a downloadble only  game sold by chapters.. like Sonic 4 was. I suppouse that the well received critics when announced and the TITANIC FLOP of Sonic 4 made ubi change and that's why Rayman origins delayed a cuple of years  until it released...

Anyway, a 40$ platfoirmer on vita and with extras I think is pretty good... ad anyway my economics pretty bad so i'll wait a good offer on black friday.. I have to import from USA... :/
