Hey guys, I really need some help here since I am so undecided and time is running short.

I have the WiFi version preordered as well as a 16GB memory card, so I am about $335 in so far, but I still need a game.

I am torn between these options.

PSVita WiFi + 16GB + Game = ~$375 ($365)
PSVita WiFi/3G + 8GB + Game = ~$365 ($355)
PS Vita WiFi + 8GB + 2 Games = ~$390 ($370)

All prices are assuming the games I buy are $40 each. Prices in parenthesis are if games purchase are $30.

I currently have the first option, but right now I am seriously leaning towards the 3rd one, but the 2nd one keeps bugging me because I hear the 3G version also has GPS and what if they release games that might use it? You think there is a reason to get the 3G for just the GPS?

I don't know what all the hate is with the 3g model, It's not like you have to pay for the 3g plan. I look at it this way, I can buy the 3g now, and maybe be disappointed that nothing happened with it, or something great might happen with it, and I'll be kicking myself in the ass standing in the check out like to buy a second vita. So I'm going 3g right out of the gate. No reason not to. It's not a big price difference. You can always pick up a second game next payday, or when ever. If you really want a second game, trade something in. I know i have a few games that may never see the inside of my system again.

The main reasoning is that people dont want to spend money on a feature they know for a fact they will never use.  The carrier exclusivity matched with the limited functionalilty is a difficult sale for most, especially those who are on a tight budget where that 50 bucks could go towards another game or larger memory card.  If I wasnt going to be able to get every vita game I want, then i definitely wouldnt have put down the 50 extra for the 3g bundle because Im not even sure if Ill be using the 3g all that much unless certain games have features that I feel is worth the monthly fee, which probably wont happen.  I really just wanted an extra memory card and the free game helped me seal the deal, and I know that if I settled for the wifi only version I wouldn't feel good about it because thats just how I am.  To each their own.

That's not true... People purchase SmartPhones for features that NEVER use... some people use them only for messaging trough social networks or as a normal Phone with pretty interface...

I dont even know how that refutes the point I was making... I was simply stating that those who do not wish to purchase the 3g version of the vita are going with the wifi version because they do not want to spend an extra 50 bucks on something they wont use.  Plus, most cell phones do not have multiple versions to choose from and if they do, it is not a feature as significant (or insignificant depending on who you are) as 3g, such as a difference in hard drive size.  I dont even really understand what you were trying to do there tbh with you.

A cell phone cost much more than a Vita so that's Why i say that... if some people pay 600bucks for a Smartphone/tablet with 3G why not a vita with 3G (without contract)?

Yeah, rigth now 3G doesn´t seem so necessary but 50$ for something extra isn´t bad.. but what really is the main reaseon to purcahse the 3G Vita is: The OFFERS! Limited Time offers on Day One release.. one game and 8Gb MC... for 50$ that's a good options, You have the 3G model with the unnecesary 3G but with one  game and a 8GBMC... After release we will see how Sony adeverise it's 3G model...  if they keep this offer I will go for the 3G without thinking!

Not all games will be sold at a discount on SEN it seems, Uncharted for example is $49.99.. that's slightly disappointing.

And no UMD passport in the west? Bad.

Also, after playing the Vita I must say the load times in some games are terrible! Very disappointed by that, as this is a machine that will be used for a guick gaming-fix on the go.

Just needed to get some negative thoughts out there. I will still be getting the machine day one, but am not sure it will be a success. Really hope it will but... Yes the screen is nice, but it's not better than the best screens on smartphones, just larger than most. In a year or so screens and processing power on smartphones will exceed Vita I'm sure.

It's all about the games and control options though and hopefully the Vita will continue to shine in that area.

Don't get me wrong, I really love and support the Vita but there are problems we shouldn't ignore and it has an uphill battle from day one.

I haven't seen many comparisons, but Vita looked better than the iPhone4g in the one I did. Don't think it will matter when you compare a $40 Vita game to all the cheap $1 smartphone games.

UMD passport is a really minor issue, just play it on your PSP instead of re-buying it. Haven't heard anything about any PSN games being full price - do you have a link?

Long load times are my only concern.

I'm really worried about Load times... heard bad things about Wipeout and Modnation in that regard. Would really put a sourness on the games if they are plagued with bad loading, hopefully they can sort it with a patch. Sort of feels like theres no excuse, what with the Vita's hardware and cartirdge based games...

I'd assume its just a launch game problem though, at least.

Ya im in the same boat as the rest of you, i really hope the load times arent as horrendous as some are making them out to be. I still havent been able to get my hands on one unfortunately as i dont want to have to drive very far since no gamestop is going to have demo units in my city due to the high volume of crime. Lame.
