He did say it wasn't an indie game, though.

From Sega's portable lineup and their release tendency I can almost guarantee Diva f2 and the next Shining series game. Also, Valkyria Chronicles. It's become a portable series now and they've been teasing fans for months. You heard it here first folks! |
Yes Please! If only VC2 was available via the Vita store, I'd buy it right this minute! Too bad it isn't...really stupid of them not to make it available via Vita store....BOOOOOOOOO!!!!

The gameplay is solid, sure, and the writing it outstanding, but I've never seen such a well made game be so un-engaging. they put so much work into the lore and backstory but then relegated it all into reading datalogs. you don't FIND these beasts, you don't hunt them down, it's just a series of battles. it's Final Fantasy XIII all over again. Why do I care about these people? What's special about your player character? why can't I move or explore or, yu know, DO anything. what's wrong with shopping for items, exploration, etc. Ragnarok Odyssey was pretty simple and straightforward, but at least that had a PATH that CULMINATED in a boss fight or something. This is just "select a scene from a menu, be dropped into the middle of the fight, and good luck!" That is not fun. Collecting spells for sacrifice can be fun, yes, and accumulating things to combine and improve is good, and upgrading one's character is fine, but as mentioned, I've never seen a game so well made be so unengaging...aside from Final Fantasy XIII, and you all know what I felt about that game. |
Why you should care about your story? Because you are a prisioner in a mad sorcerors dungeon awaiting to be killed and this is your chance of freedom/survival. I think the story is very engaging. Discovering what the book is about, where these characters fit on the downfall of Magusar and how to take him down.
Also, several monsters get explained. The money grabbing sorceror fights a likewise monster at the end and its story is revealed afterwards (if you dont sacrifice him). Its not that there is no reason to fight these, but as you said you sometimes have to dig a bit deeper and it could be more obvious.
Yeah, it would be nice to have more exploring, but this is a new IP. I find the game sticks to its core, but its very addicting. I guess that when you have to play cause its a job to do so, all games are not gonna be as good as they could be. I am hoping that sequal that was pitched to Sony is accepted because this franchise has room to grow.
I dont miss running about in areas and repeatadly havesting nodes like in monster hunter. I find that kind of experience to be incredibly boring. I am happy that this game skips that part, but it certainly could be even more cinematic and imersive with vaster envyronments to fight monsters in. I only find having to farm the missions for better scores and more spells to be boring at times, but moving through the main game has been a joy from beggining to end.
Oh and its definitly not FFXIII all over again. The combat here isnt auto-attack spam.

It is available! :P
My Persona 4 G finally arrived today (after 35 days of shipping).

I have been looking at the persona series sales and a Vita Persona 5 seems like a very good idea from a sales perspective to me. Many people in japan bought it just for that game, and besides it beeing a beefud up PS2 port, its still the best selling Vita game in Japan.
I am pretty sure it would pull above 300k in sales, wich is not far from what past titles got on the PS2. It would also potencially spike Vita sales and maybe even risk getting to the half a million mark in japan if everything went well.
If theres a game that could be a Vita savior, i think it would be a persona 5 exclusive to the system. At least in Japan it would have a very big impact. In the west it wouldnt make any difference. The west needs more crap like CoD that isnt total trash, new assassins creed, a GT, a GTA, a God of War and maybe another Uncharted with multiplayer (not that all of these are crap). If sales didnt pick up with those then we could safely give up on the portable market in the west for Sony.
Though to be honest it seems Sony is going to aproach a Nintendo strategy with maybe a new Jak and Daxter and a more family oriented strategy.
Sigh... i wish they would aproach Namco and publish the Tales titles that namco seems to not care about.

| huiii said: Apparently sega is planing on bringing 5 games to the vita in this fiscal year. Only one in the first half though and that's probably that football/soccer game. www.m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=556054 its in this table here under FY 14: www.abload.de/img/capture2nrp2i.png so what do you think it's going to be? project diva? sonic? yakuza? (well i'm hoping it's going to be these... it's probably not though) |
Well... that's interesting. Good catch!
I dunno really. Probably a multi-plat version of whatever the latest Sonic is. Perhaps a Football Manager title too.
And then... some Japan-centric stuff. A Shining game; Valkyria Chronicles if we're super lucky.
I hope it's Yakuza. Since they did that big demo of it running on Vita at the console's reveal. Not that we're likely to get a Yakuza game in the west, but still, I can hope. And it'd really help in Japan if it was a fully fleshed out title.

He might have meant it's not an Indiana Jones game.
