just saw that news :D the ease of development is gonna be a HUGE win for the Vita...and I think this is a good sign going into the next gen as well, Sony is approaching the situation correctly

That video is an outright lie. You can get a 32GB Class 10 SD Card (top of the line, ultra-fast speed, and probably faster than Vita cards) for $34 on Newegg. Even expensive ones are less than $50. The pricing of Vita memory cards is blatant gouging.

I actually agree with you. i just posted the video because...well i don't really know why lol

But anyway these prices are probably not even real, because the vita in japan cost 24980Yen (wifi only) witch = around 300$ A 32 gig card cost 9500Yen witch = 120$. see what im saying?? gamestop obviously just straight converted Yen to US just as a place holder number. i doubt these will be the final prices, im gonna wait for Sony to confirm the real prices.

(or maybe my theory is completely wrong lol)

It's possible that you're right, but unlikely. The reason being that Gamestop didn't actually straight convert ALL the prices, and that they can't actually afford to make them cheaper than the Yen prices in America. Fact is, the Yen is insanely strong right now, and for export companies like Nintendo and Sony that means they lose tons of money on every American dollar made. The Vita will absolutely be selling at a loss at $250 in America because of this, and they'll have to make money on the memory to stay afloat.

That's my reasoning anyway. I could be wrong too, but I expect these prices to be correct.

Even if they're selling the Vita at a loss, the memory card prices are still way too high. Even considering that it is proprietary memory cards, I still can't see it costing that much more to produce than standard SD cards.

Hey guys, I know we had a teaser trailer for the Japanese launch but here is what it appears to be the first proper commercial for PSV!

That teal/cyan vita is pretty. I will probably pick up a vita whenever it gets "jail broken" I want one, and I know the emulation ability and homebrew will be pretty awesome. That and the homebrew carts (if there are any) will probably support microsd so I don't have to buy the over priced memory cards. Also, the fact it is region free is exciting. Not sure why Nintendo made the 3DS region locked, quite upsetting to be honest. Also, I'm not one to pirate games, I just want to "jail break" the PS Vita so I can run all my N64 games on a mobile handheld and other homebrew, while still buying the actual Vita games. Anyone else getting a Vita and a 3ds?

wow 0_0 I REALLY want this game! the summons looks fantastic as well...what was that new summon? A tiger? looks so pretty..and fun

and I keep noticing how all devs are coming up with creative ways to use all functionalities of the Vita in gameplay and trackpad is getting some good attention in the process..very very good signs for future games

@errorpwns: yeah I will be getting a 3ds eventually (gotta have my layton fix :D) but not for a while tho....

I have a 3DS and will be buying a Vita, but I'm having buyer's remorse for buying early (quite happy with it now that Mario and Zelda are out with Mario Kart around the corner).

I won't be buying Vita at launch because the cost of the system + memory cards is prohibitively high for me... especially since I am likely to want to buy a large portion of games digitally. I'm also annoyed with the need to repurchase PSP games that I've already paid for, the battery life, and the lack of PSN classics support.  I'm excited about the hardware, but not the launch games except for Gravity Daze. One thing that always bothered me on the PSP is Sony never puts first string development teams on handheld development, and they're repeating this with the Vita, using B and C teams to make spinoffs of their franchises.

Because of these factors I'll probably try to wait for the first hardware revision, which ideally will have onboard memory, better battery life, and possibly even a price cut. Hopefully 3rd parties will have filled out the library with more variety of AAA titles by then (or Sony themselves will), because the spinoffs from Sony mean little to me and I'm not going to buy console ports which I can play on my PS3 anyway. I'm definitely getting one at some point though.

i just need a reminder. do we have to use Sony memory cards?

Sorry for not posting for awhile but it seems that this thread is still going strong =]
