Animal Crossing reminds me of The Sims in a good way.
My girlfriend would always come over my house to play this game, its the best sim game ever from Nintendo.

It was fun for a little while but I got quickly tired of it. I thought it was too limited and I didn't like the errants and debts. So annoying. I'll stick to Sims until there is something better.
If I would to play a simulation on a console, I'd say Harvest Moon is the best bet. Have more things to do and the theme is more interesting, imo.
I love AC, both on the Cube and DS. I still play the DS version some, but haven't much since I got all my fossils, bugs, and fish in the museum a few months ago.
I would like for there to be some mini-games in the Wii version-that would extend the play even further when I've collected most of the furniture, collectibles, and museum things. I really hope in the Wii version you can play Virtual Console games on a little console in your house. :)
"I feel like I could take on the whole Empire myself."
I only played WW. It was exactly the type of game that thrives on a handheld, you open it up, you chat to the residents, you check nook's shop, you maybe do some fishing, check the price of turnips, water some flowers, then turn it off. It gets pretty addictive, and you can play in 20 minute bursts throughout the day
Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!
Never played it, people are saying its kind of like harvest moon though and I loved those games.

My girlfriend loved it. She played it religiously, and even made me a town+ maintained it for me. I couldn't get into it. My mind wasn't open enough, I guess.
I like it, but it just gets boring after a while and I always end up stopping.
I don't like it, I love the sims but my big problem with crossing is that your town is tiny there aren't that many characters and there isn't enough to do, they pretty much designed the game in a way that you can't play more then 20 minutes a day. I even start to change the internal clock time and date(ds version) just to move things along.
@HappySquirrel
Yeah I know what you meant. I should have written a more obviosuly sarcastic response, maybe a few extra buts or some such.
I don't know. I have it. But I have not played it. I will play it... Later...
