Forums - Nintendo - Do you like Animal Crossing?

I remember hearing all the hype about Animal Crossing when it came out for the Gamecube a few years ago. I decided that it was worth a shot, so I bought it. I didn't like the game at all because I couldn't really see the point: Running errands to get furniture??? Boring... I traded it in for Metroid Prime. Anyway, my brother got the game for Christmas (not this Christmas, a long time ago), and I started playing it again. Now I like it more, but I still don't understand why this game is so highly praised.

What are your opinions of Animal Crossing on the Gamecube? I haven't played the DS version, but you can discuss it here as well.

I like it. I like simulator games,it just was very well made.

"Like you know"

No

I somehow doubt that LeoJ has played it...

Anyway I love it. Imagine the sims with realtime and animals. Its a lot of fun with friends, otherwise it does get boring afterwhile. Plus, if you like me if you miss a day, you have to make up everythign for it. If you dont play for six months, prepare to be welcomed to an hour of weeds and half your favorite neighbors moved away.

Like The Sims or Harvest Moon, Animal Crossing is a game based more on communication and co-operation than competition which makes it very different than most games; these differences are the main reason why Animal Crossing is so popular with gamers who think games like Halo and Metroid Prime are borring.

The first couple of hours is decent but after that I just switch to SSBM.

It was great at the time it was released and the ds version is much much better.

This is the correct answer. It's a bit like asking: "Why do girls like to play with dolls? "

Different people play games for different purposes. Some want to blow each other up. If you fall into the category, the following statements are most likely true:

1) You don't like Animal Crossing
2) You cannot fathom why everyone doesn't want to play the same things you do, because clearly they are better

I LOVED Animal Cross for GC. So many late nights playing till 5 in the morning. Then I bought Wild World hoping that it would be just as good. Ended up being shit. Never wasting my money on Animal Crossing again.

Used to love it, hate it now.

I liked it a lot but played for a while and abandoned my village to play other games. When I played it again it was in a terrible state... :(
