Forums - Sony - Future PSVita owners: Wifi or 3G?

Wi-fi for me, don't need 3G at this point

Around the Network

If it was Verizon 4G I would do that. But AT&T 3G? Nope. As soon as Kaz said "We need the nation's fastest 3G network" I groaned cause I knew it was AT&T. Bad move.

Wi-Fi. Can't imagine myself taking advantage of 3G all that often anyway.

The 'basic' one. Don't even know what 3G is, which suggests I don't need it.

They don't use those terms in the UK? Its basically a marketing term for 3rd Gen cell phone data networks. Now there are 4G networks which are all the craze here, but only 1 is truly a 4G network (Verizon). The other "4g" carriers use glorified 3g (HSPA+ to be exact) and market it as 4G in order to charge more and make people think its fast. Marketing annoys me..

depends on if there is a contract or whatnot. i'm already on ATT so if i can add it for free, fuck it, i'll take the 3G model. if it costs so much as $20 a month, fuck it.

Well since AT&T is the provider, screw 3G. Verizon? Fuck yeah I would get the 3G version.

But Wi Fi version is perfect enough for me coz for me, I hardly take portables out of the room or house and it has Wi Fi so all is good.

Wi-fi only, I can't afford paying for 3G since im in uni and don't even have a job. :(

What would 3G allow me to do on a handheld gaming device that standard WiFi wouldn't?

Really? You don't know about 3G?

Well its a cell phone network so you always have internet if there is cell service. Much greater service area than Wifi.

My dream is to play Call of Duty online in the fields at the top of the hill near my town. Greatest view ever, I can even see France.
