Forums - Sales - No Pricecuts!

I think they were both prepared to respond with a cut if the other did it. Otherwise why would either of them cut the price, MS and Sony are both selling consoles at an excellent rate, they both have a lot of lost money to make up. You only cut the price if you expect the increased sales are going to at least offset the lowered profit or prevent erosion of market share, neither are in a position where that is "currently" a concern.

I have felt they want to wait to September time frame, but then again I also thought MS would want to continue the PR with YoY increases each month. Without a price cut in June 360 YoY gains will stop.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

i expect a 3ds price cut aroudn september, nothing else

It is pretty surprising to me especially from MS.

They haven't dropped the price of the 360 in 3 years now which is a LONG time. They are certaily due for one and sales will see a pretty good lift once they do.

Sony I can understand because they've only really been posting profit on the hardware for around a year now so they aren't going to be in a rush to cut those profits after all the losses the PS3 cost them.

you know that I know that you know that pricecuts are more effective when they come a surprize during fall.

I was nay expecting price cuts for PS3 or 360 at E3. I'm expecting them both to cut price in September. I think PS3 should be able to manage $100 cut for the 160GB model.

wow me either a microsoft price cut would really hurt sony right now sony needs microsoft to keep there price of they want to keep outselling them each week but if m$ announces a price cut either sony will stay as it is and sell around 130k units each week and leave m$ with around 180k-190k or they would have to announce a price cut themselves putting them back in the lead but they will recieve a smaller profit from each console :/ so the ball is really in m$ hands and i think they could be toying with sony

gonna have to wait & see......

i kinda get the feeling that Sony modeled their Press conference after Microsoft's.

i mean they had a few hours to decide what to announce and what not, maybe they were prepared to announce a pricecut, but since Microsoft didn't, they saw no reason to do that either.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
