Tales of Symphonia probably sold 1 million worldwide, but in Japan (above) it sold only 314,289 copies.

I'm pretty sure they're not training considering that they hate him.
And I have no idea what Marta's weapon is but I don't see the crossbow. I thought it was going to be a chakram that she threw until I saw the first trailer, really it's pretty new for this series.

The trailer actually reads that with the reuniting came hatred, but I'm not sure they're talking about Emil and Co. Especially since that would make the hero the evil ones, but why not ? It could be another amazing story (ala FFIV ?).
Found story details!

Long ago, Sylvarant and Tethe'alla were united as a single world, connected by the Great Kharlan tree. Divine intentions tore them apart however, and the tree withered and died. It was eventually left to a boy named Lloyd to restore the world to its true form. At his journey's end, a new tree was planted to replace the old one and to hold the two worlds togther. This was the story of the Journey of Regenration...
Together once more, the world is now entering a new era. However, its people are still faced with many problems. After the lands became one, maps were rendered unusable and the climate went through many vast changes. Desert towns are becoming frozen wastelands and lakes are drying up into valleys.
All of this stems from an overlooked factor in the unification of the worlds. The spirit of the old Kharlan Tree, Ratatosk, still exists somewhere, and its slumber has sent the world into chaos.
However, Ratatosk isn't the only problem; the people of the two worlds are starting to hate each other. The citizens of Tethe'alla look down upon the citizens of Sylvarant due to their inferior tecnology, and the citizens of Sylvarant fear the citizens of Tethe'alla because of their power.
Two years have passed since the worlds were first merged, and the people of Sylvarant have set up a vanguard with which to rise up against the Church of Martel and the people of Tethe'alla.
One day, the Church of Martel went to war the vanguard, and Sylvarant's city of Palmacosta was caught in the crossfire. Countless innocent people died and Palmacosta was engulfed in a terrible fire.
This event came to be known as the "Purge of Flames", a bloody massacre, led by Lloyd Irving of the Church of Martel."
For those who don't know, Emil and Marta were orphaned in the "Purge of Flames." Led by Lloyd Irving...
They're not training with Lloyd. They trying to kill him. They want him to ****ing die.

I like the story so far... Originally I thought this was going to be a spin-off without a good storyline, etc. Oh how wrong was I...

I'm going to buy Zack and Wiki! And you should so too
.
Wow, that promises to be a interesting story. Can't wait to play it. In Tales of Symphonia the good beame bad and the other way around, but this time they taken it a step further it seems.
I think once this arrives (Februari in Japan right?) the install base of the Wii will be a little over that of the gamecube and it will be a system seller too, since its the first JRPG on the console and the first of like 10 to come. I expect 500.000 sales in Japan.
If I'll buy this game I think I'll just wait for the US version. Kind of fed up with Japanese for the time being, plus the voice of that girl is too annoying. Looks nice though, not too impressive IMO.

I for one cannot wait for this game. It is my most anticipated game of 08 so far......Brawl what? Tales is where it's at. Years later after purchasing Symphonia one I am still playing it..... Probably the best $50 I have ever spent
Exactly what I was hinking about, and I actually believe that we the hero will be the bad guys.
I noticed the thing about the world being completely changed in the trailer too.
"Day one" purchase anyway.
Well, actually, I won't buy a japanese Wii (or mod my current one) until I'm compelled to do it, so that will be a "european day one" purchase if the game comes to Europe.
I will have so many RPG to play anyway, I don't see myself playing this before next year at least.
Soriku, this isn't the "mothership title." Vesperia is.
