Forums - Nintendo - IGN teases big Nintendo news for Tuesday/Wednesday outside of conference

NintendoEverything

Does IGN know something we don’t about Nintendo’s presence at E3? That might possible, based on a tease from Rich George.

Of course, Nintendo will have a presentation on Tuesday, followed by a developer’s roundtable later in the day. But it sounds like there could be another round of significant news from Nintendo on Wednesday.

George wrote in a recent article:

“This year, expect to hear news outside of the press conference. Not only in the form of impressions, videos and a few interviews, but I would make sure you’re checking the IGN Nintendo sites on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. I will have live blogs fired up.”

As far as I’m aware, Nintendo has never delivered any additional news the day following their conference. You have to wonder what they have planned…

The safest option is to ignore all hints from all videogame websites.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

remember IGNs "Kid Icarus Wii" crap from a few years ago, they are they boy that cried wolf to me after a few overhyped things with no payoff.

Likely they may be talking about more post-E3 chats that Nintendo have had the past two years (formalized sit-down events of a smaller scale. The one in 2009 was the one where the first shot of Skyward Sword cropped up). Seems reasonable enough to me

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Mr Khan is correct.  They hold an invite only media briefing every year after their main media conference.  Brawl was also first revealed at one of these events.

"Nintendo's presence at E3 has evolved over the years. What used to be a 30 minute press conference followed by 30 minutes of Q&A has evolved into an hour-long rock show, complete with hilarious/awkward skits and insane production values. Eventually the company added smaller, sub-events throughout the week. Remember how Super Smash Bros. Brawl and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword were first revealed? Not at Nintendo's press conferences for those years.

This year, expect to hear news outside of the press conference. Not only in the form of impressions, videos and a few interviews, but I would make sure you're checking the IGN Nintendo sites on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. I will have live blogs fired up. "

He's saying this not because he has inside info, but based on past revelations.

maybe they will have 2 roundtables, one for Cafe and one for everything else

Considering how they teased the big 360 announcement (which was simply a headset) a few days ago, I wouldn't get your hopes up :/

It would not suprise me at all. I remember at E3 2006 being dissapointed Brawl never made an appearance just to see Brawl unvieled later on. Now do I think Nintendo will have huge announcements after their press conference? Its possible Brawl was a pretty big announcement and it wasn't during their main conference. I wonder what Nintendo could unviel also one hour is offly short to be unvieling new Wii, DS, 3DS and Cafe games as well as unvieling Cafe for the first time. They can't possibly fit everything they've got into that one to two hour segment.

Is Nintendo's  E3 conference 2 hours this year?

Any news is news, right?

But I'm not getting my hopes up... :/
