How dare you call yourself a sony fan. Sony fan at most would by rival android brand.

What superchunk doesn't understand when he posts these WP7 shortcomings is that not everyone is a smart phone power user. People that play with their smartphones all day long may get bored of WP7 after a few months. I on the other hand use it when I'm on the go to do email, websurfing, lite gaming and phone related stuff. As soon as I am home, its laptop or desktop and phone goes on standby...
I had a motorola milestone, aka the Droid in US...and it was a great phone, served me well. However I don't like to fiddle with devices, adjust settings for everything, hack/jailbreak or any of that jazz. The Milestone experience for me was too all over the place and bland. Android in general I find is not nearly as focused as iOS or WP7.
To each their own of course and I'm sure that if one wants to invest time to "customize" android, they can get an excelent taylor made experience out of it. WP7 hoever does that a lot better and easier out of the box...
Congrats.. Love where Windows Phone is heading with their OS. Mango is going to bring a lot more features. Skype is going to make an entrance at some point. The next batch of hardware will most likely include front facing cameras to make use of the new acquisition.

It's great that you can do that stuff you mention. Niether myself or my wife can be bothered to make a device do things via third party apps. Or make an android be a WP7. So although that optionn works for you, it wouldnt work for me. I'm already set up with Zune and Live and the fact WP7 is to from Minute 1 is perfect. I'm also privvy to the latest Android as I have an HTC Desire S 3 feet away. It's a great phone. Just slower on the operating side. Apart from that they do the same things. It depends what your after. For the average Joe who wont tinker making the OS do things as you mention in my personal experience WP7 and Android are by far my faves and both are ahead of Iphone 4. Apps wise no. But slickness, screen, design and integration yes. Whatever the choice anyone makes. WP7 deserves far more credit in the market than many fanboys around th web would lead people to believe. |

To change your 'launcher' or theme on your phone, just use the search bar in the market and install the app. That is the free one with ads in the application tray or for $1.40 you can have the ad-free version. This does not require root, jailbreak, tinkering of any kind. Very simple and very much not available in iOS or WP(not yet anyway).
I do agree that iOS and WP out the box may run quicker on similar hardware, however, I also think that the majority of users on this site are techie and would be inclined to remove the rubbish installed by carriers to make the Android experience far better. Additionally, the Nexus phones (plain android) will always beat iOS and WP in the same tests with even lesser hardware. Its not Android, is the manufacturers and carriers. This will undoubtly change as Google is adding more restrictions.
I also agree that users who are heavily invested in iProducts or Live/Zune will probably be better off with iOS or WP, respectively for the obvious immediate sync with existing stuff. This is exactly why I never chose them as I didnt' want to be tied to their future prodcuts, for better or worse.

Hell, its arguable that HTC also makes the best Android phones.... I wonder if they'll ever make a console. HTC is simply a good company.

HTC has been known for making crappy speakers on their phones. My last HTC Tilt 2's speaker went to shit after 1 month. Both of my 2 co-workers that have HTC EVOs, their speakers went to shit too. Good for them that Sprint knows about the problem and replaced their speakers for free. As for me, my Tilt 2 still has a messed up speaker. I got the phone carrier unlocked for free though and can put any SIM i want into it, so it's at least good for something.
