Good specs but i'm sorry you  opted for an HP :-/

What's the issue with HP laptops? (i'm asking honestly, since I haven't heard anything bad from them here in Portugal)

Everyone I know has had horrible problems with HP laptops...but that was a a couple years back so I'm not sure if their laptops have increased quality or not.

Well, I've had the reverse experience. A bunch of my college mates have HP laptops and haven't had any issues with them. Mostly Pavillion and dv6/dv7 series though.

You're right, I've had terrible overheating problems too! That is, when I've used my HP laptop on my bed or on a mat, or... You get the idea. Anywhere where it can't actually get new air. Other than that, it's been working perfectly. I wouldn't say I've had a single problem.

That would be a problem with any laptop. No airflow means cooling is very reduced.

LoL

I dont know what is going on in Portugal at the moment but there must be a HP fever or something cause a bunch of friends of mine bought this series as well.

They all seem pretty happy with their purchase and haven't heard them complain about anything special, besides the touch pad.

Yeah, even new ones will suffer from overheating in those conditions. Not that would bother me, I've already got a nifty Targus fan pad from my previous laptop which solves any kind of overheating issue.

I've got to try the touch pad, to see why it underperforms. I used my Asus touchpad a lot, but the mouse keys weren't that good, as they got stuck a lot.

HP has released some good laptops in the past years. Every other brand, with these specifications would have been of an higher price here in Portugal.

The laptop has arrived and I'm finally testing it. I love the keyboard setup (pop-up keys which allows for better cleaning) and I haven't had any issues with the touchpad so far.

Also I made a mistake about the specifications. It isn't a i7-2310QM, it's a i7-2630QM which rates at 7.9 in the windows experience index. Lowest experience index is the HDD at 6.4

Going to install a couple of games and will later give an impression about the graphical performance.
