Thanks for that.

I desperately want to build my own system, but I just don't trust myself.  If it was my own money maybe, but it is a family members.  I have learned my lesson with purchasing pre-builts.  But it comes down to finding people to build it for me.  I have looked around and the website I linked seems to do it as cheap or more cheap than any others, with good customization options.

What GPU's would you recommend?  If I was to go AMD for CPU's what sorts are good do you know?

currently AMD is far behind in the CPU department, Intel core i3 scores way higher then the best amd has to offer.

Trust your self its so not harder than what you think, watch some tutorials

Where did you hear that? AMD's Phenom 2 cpus are awesome. AMD cpu's are only a fraction of the cost of an i7 cpu, but still comparable. I'll admit i7s are better, but not nearly as much as you make it out to be. The price difference is far from worth it IMO.

only if i can find the report but i was reading an mighty long test report of stuff i hardly couldn't understand but all points pointed to the i7 Destroying AMD 6 core Black edition by so much. But really no point arguing, its up to you, get what you want.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

Okay, i've looked it up and the i7 can be way better, but at cheaper price ranges AMD is better.

OP, If you really want to get a really good CPU, get this one:

 Intel Core i7-2600K @ 3.40GHz

I think that it has the best price/performance ratio among the top CPUs currently on the market.

Once you factor in the fact I am unable to build my own PC, Core i7 hex-cores are a little out of my price range unfortunately.

Anyone else got a suggestion?

Do you have friends living in the US that you could ask to ship the computer to you? I just bought from tigerdirect.com this way. This site is really cheap and my computer has been working great so far.

It's not the vibrant PC community it once was

You'll get 3 people who will try to help you, then Shio will pop out of no where saying unless you a $18,000 PC and say consoles are for wimps you aren't a PC gamer...

Can you order from Tigerdirect/Compusa or Newegg somehow? Newegg has some pretty cheap hard drives. If you already have MS Office you can use the serial key again, if not and you're a student you can probably get it discounted or free from MS.

Just a couple of questions:

-Are you going to OC? And if so, both CPU and GPU or just one?

-How important is silence for your build?

Please excuse my bad English.

Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

No OC-ing, again it just isn't something I am comfortable enough trying with someone else's money.

Silence isn't the biggest factor, but obviously I don't want a tiger roaring next to me.

In that case, and please take this all with all the salt you can get as I'm no expert, I'd go the Intel and choose the "Techbuy Intel Pro Gamer Computer System"route as you want

"as much power as possible, am keen to have plenty of fast RAM, play games at the best quality possible and would love a fast CPU for some video editing and data-compiling"

Then I'd do some changes:

-You surely have a mouse and a keyboard so you can scrap those and add the D-Link 802.11n wireless card and the external memory card reader.

-I don't know much about PSUs but the Coolermaster 650W PSU surely isn't much worse than the Termaltake but it's much cheaper doe to not being modular and then you can afford that 1Tb HDD and 8Gb (2x4GB) of 1600Mhz RAM.
And there you go, your PC for 1,499.15

Our mouse and keyboard are being salvaged for another comp, and you didn't take account of software requirements :/

Thanks though.

Anyone else have ideas?

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

I am tempted to go with the Phenom 1100t hex core, 8gb of 1600 RAM and the GTx 560ti.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?  Am I better off with a faster clocked quad core Phenom?  Also, are there any compatibility issues with Phenom 1100t and 1600 RAM?  I have read that some types of RAM aren't always supported?
