I pronounce it "vee-tah".

The same as "vida" in spanish but with a "t" instead of a "d".

Playstation VITA which also rhymes with pita. I can imagine myself going into the store and telling a sales associate " I would like to buy a playstation vita" but for some reason it will just seem awkward.

Calling it PSP2 does one thing better than 3DS in my opinion.  It perfectly explains that this is a NEW system and not a variation.  A smooth name is nice, but make sure no one is confused.
