Just downloaded Eternal Legacy HD (Android version but it's available for iPhone/iPod Touch too. Maybe iPad as well) today. Only played to the first save point. Kinda tied up right now with Yakuza 3 and Lunar Silver Star Harmony. But nice to be able to have a japanese-style rpg to play on the go without having to take my bulky, lengthy PSP-3000 with me. I was playing Zenonia 2 but I put that on hold because the Virtual D-Pad got on my nerves.

If Game Dev Story (for Android and iPhone/iPod Touch) hasn't been mentioned yet, I definitely recommend that. Hot Springs Story (made by same developer and also available for Android and iPhone/iPod Touch) doesn't interest me anywhere near as much as Game Dev Story but I'm going to put more time into that later.

If you want old school JRPG styled gaming be sure to check out Symphony of Eternity in the Android market. It is just $2.99.

Took me about 16 hours to beat, just finished it yesterday. Then afterwards I found out that it has new game plus if you start a new game with your completed game save not to mention post game dungeons with bad ass enemies if you load your end game save from the "load game" option.

Game packs quite a punch for just $3.

Controls are superb by the way if you set it to "Touch Only" in the options menu.

I looked it up on Android Market and it shows that it's $9.66 Canadian (800 Yen/$9.99 USD). Apparently the sale is in effect for Canada too (doing some google searching) and in the game description it mentions that there is a 62-63% off sale. But the actual listed price of the thing is $9.66... lol. Apparently at "checkout" it's $2.99 US but the price was still $9.66 CAD at check out for me. Android Market is wonky on me or maybe the promotion isn't in effect for Canada after all.

Edit: Nvm browsing Android market on the phone itself instead of the PC it's $2.99. Weird. That's a huge error. I wonder how many people accidentally bought the game at $10.

So you can get it for just $2.99 in Canada?

Awesome.

I wanted the game ever since it was Japanese only and I waited for an English translation. When I saw that it was $10 I stood my ground and waited, hoping for a better price. I then saw it for $2.99 and took the plunge.

I don't regret it one bit.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Yeah $10 is unusually steep for a smartphone game. And Spectral Souls (Tactical RPG) is like $15 US (!!!) on Android Market. Funny thing is when smaller-scale PSP RPGs (ie. Cladun: This is an RPG) sell for like $20 on PSN, no one blinks an eye. When I bought it, I didn't see anything wrong with the $20 price tag even though it was short and sported a very retro aesthetic (185 mb download). That said, Cladun has the NIS brand behind it (and it is a quality title in it's own right). Going to be hard for a relatively unknown smartphone game developer to charge $15 in a marketplace where gamers are used to $1-$5 apps. Chaos Rings (Square-Enix RPG) is $13 on iTunes but that's Square-Enix. Every Square-Enix fanatic with an iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad (sadly no Android port. I guess Android isn't popular in Japan?) is going to at least look into that game.

Gonna help me fill the shit out of that new Mobile section when it shows up?

Hell yes.

You be the 'Droid Dropkicker, I'll be the Jobsian Juggernaut, I'll see you at Summer Slam, and we'll crush the new mobile forum between our mighty thews.

You thinking dedicated game threads or elaborate list threads?

Dedicated game threads for sure.
