like he said it's about expectations
people expected 3ds to have an amazing 3rd party game line up and be sold out for months to come..but alas even the psp is outselling it ww for weeks now..quite easily too, rather pathetic sales if you go by that logic of yours to the successor of the most successful handheld
People expected wii to keep selling big time and even hit 50% market share. but heck the gen leader is looking rather embarassing now ecompared to previous gen leaders. sales and games both
So the point is, I think it's much more stupid and immature for someone to call something a failure with a made up notion of success like yours. It's just beyond silly. PSP has an amazing game library, it sold really really well and is kicking collective nintendo ass in Japan at the moment. It made company money and made sure sony's foot in handheld industry is well established. It's a success, move on

You see, we're talking about consoles as wholes, not just their temporary performance. While yes, 3DS's current performance is that of a failure, the entire console isn't (yet, at least).
You have to be extremely desperate to offend if you consider the Wii a failure. It has sold several (dozen?) times more than initial expectations by most in 2005/6. Comparing it to the PS2 or any previous generation leader (all of which the Wii is destroying, for the record) has no basis whatsoever. Its recent sales compared to 2007/8 expectations have failed, but the entire console has done as much the opposite of that as possible.
Finally, I think you should pay attention to my arguments if you're implying that I'm calling the PSP a failure. I have claimed at least a couple of time that it isn't one. I'm just saying that people are needlessly sugarcoating it by calling it a great success.
I'd leave it at that, but you've made some more arguments so I have to try to counter them, xD. Having an amazing library is far too subjective to mean anything. I think I already said that, if you put it its sales into perspective by brand stanards, sales aren't that fancy. Also, I hope PSP's happy about getting some a year or so of dominance after being crushed to pieces for several years running. Really, that's too short term to mean much.
