Forums - Microsoft - Rumor: Full Stereoscopic 3D Hitting Xbox 360

"The bottleneck is more on the graphical throughput for rendering out in stereo."

Understatement of the year. Effectively doubling the resolution will hit quality severely.

...but that won't show up in tech demos and E3 trailers. Perfect for MS.

3D is the most useless feature that has come to gaming since the Tony Hawk skateboard controller

I'm waiting Uncharted 3 to prove you are wrong.

While Uncharted 3 may be impressive...you should really check out something like Metro 2033 on the Pc in full HD 3D...it makes Ps360 3D efforts thus far look like  the special olympics.

I feel meh about this news if true...360(and PS3) don't have the horsepower to do proper stereoscopic 3D (1080p per eye, 60 frames per second per eye)

Yes? No? Maybe.

I'm waiting Uncharted 3... the title is being created from the beginning to run in 3D.

Sounds good, unfortunately it's a HDMI 1.4 requirement so like the PS3 I will have to pass this up. It's a good start by Microsoft though.

I'm currently playing though Mass Effect on an 80inch backlit projector screen in 3D, it's like being inside a holodeck!

Meh, I'm sure some games look good with 3D but I'll never experience it ...

Why not?

What does that even mean?

All polygon based games are created from the beginning to be 3D.  Why do you think computer animated cartoons look so great in 3D, because they are already created that way.

I played the original Assasin's Creed on my 360, then I got AC2 on my 3D computer (that I got fairly recently) which supports titles released in recent years and allows me to play them in 3D.

I can tell you, the 3D experience just blew my minds off. Its amazing when something as simple as running in the streets feels so real because you have the depth that 2D games don't truly portray. You can even see little specks of dust or leaves come towards you when you are moving, it creates a different level of immersion. But I don't think the experience can be explained, you just have to try it out, and you have to try it out where it has been utilised well.

That's Naughty Dog saying... not me.

"I was talking to the studio guys [Naughty Dog] , I said 'How do you make it look it like that? Because it's different from any other 3D game I've ever seen.' And he said, 'We designed the game, planning on 3D. We went for maximum definition every frame.'"

Uncharted 3 is the reason I needed to buy a 3DTV .

Come on, that's just marketing speak.  It falls in the camp of "we designed the game to use every last drop of power the PS3/360 can produce".

It's like when Avatar was first released on Blu-ray with no extras James Cameron went with "it's only because we wanted the picture and sound to be so good that we used all the available space on the disc".  Oh really?  Why didn't they just include a second disc?  It's because they wanted people to buy it twice.

Anyone saying 3D isn't that impressive needs an ocular check. But I too will wait until I have to wear no glasses. No way I'm investing in a 3D tv if everyone at home has to buy a pair of 3D glasses. I believe that if Microsoft implements that feature it's because they have a game to show in 3D... my guess is Forza.
