Terrible list
3 games that are just terrible no matter how you slice it
1 ok game that is still decidely mediocre in comparison to other games in the genre
And 1 good but linear action adventure series.
Oh boy

Couldn't possibly disagree more. Everything in the top 5 is quality.

Then you have very low standards
|
No not at all considering the entire industry agress.
It sounds like you would rather see niche games make the top 5 and the fact that these games sell so much and get such high reviews speak for themselves. They have a huge loveing fanbase and that doesn't happen by accident.
If these games don't deserve it what do sir? And I have low standards? Do you see my gamerscore? Plus I'm nearly a level 9 on PSN and I only play exclusives on it. I've played nearly every single notable game this generation and I can confidently say while my top 5 wasn't exactly like was voted the top, its still a VERY quality list.

No it happens by massive advertisement and incredible simplicity. Also the entire industry agreeing is, if anything, a knock against these games as the inustry has horrible taste in games.
LBP- Nice creative tools destroyed by unplayable platform physics.
Gears of War- Pop and shoot repetitive gameplay with a broken multiplayer.
Assassins Creed- Repetitive missions and boring combat. Not top five material at all.
Mass Effect- Solid first game but with a sequel that strips out any semblance of RPG from it and gives us more pop and shoot gameplay with a meaningless plot.
Uncharted- Good game. Pop and Shoot gameplay is broken up with fun platforming and excellent writing. However its very linear and without much replayability. Not top five quality.
Here's my top ten for clarification in no particular order (and yes I did vote)
Blazblue- fantastic frenzied and fun battles with an awesome cast of characters and a deep meta game. Paid DLC charracters sucked though.
Demon Souls- Old school difficulty and with far more custimization and strategies than so called RPGs like Mass effect. Also an amazing and innovative online system.
STALKER- Tons of content and amazing mods with a immersive world where things actually happen that aren't scripted events. This is the game fallout 3 should have been.
The witcher- The game that dragon age should have been, really well written and fantastic gameplay with a ton to do. I haven't gotten into two yet but I can only imagine its one of the best games of the gen.
Dawn of War- Took away starcrafts rts crown this gen. Squad based tactics are sweet and the Warhammer 40K world is perfectly represented. I still need to get retribution.
Portal- The perfect puzzler with amazing writing. 2 does everything bigger and better. Only issue is length.
Killing floor- the Perfect mix of co-op and competition and with its class based system and ranks it completely blow L4D out of the water.
Dead Space- A fantastic first game to a series that could be the next resident evil. A lackluster and actionized sequel has me wary but I still have a lot of hope for this franchise.
Patapon- A cool mix of rythym games and strategy games and a perfect fit for handhelds. Easily one of the most unique games of the gen and one of the psps strongest titles.
Valkryia Chronicles- Brings action and excitement into the sometimes boring realm of strategy games. Also great art design and the roster is filled with a bunch of babes drawn by Raita himself.
Honorable mentions- Infamoose
