Forums - Gaming - VGC 'One moth, one game' project.

Yes, the title should say MONTH.

Members of VGC!!!

I hear many of you complain that 'this game doesn't get enough love'.

I hear many of you complain that 'this game is underrated'.

I hear many of you complain that 'this game deserves more sales'.

Well, it's time to play those games that bombed or underperformed.

Let's start a 'gaming club'.

You think Nier is a gem? You think Yakuza 4 deserves more? You think Enslaved didn't deserve its fate?

Let's choose a game each month! We'd have one month since we choose the game until we start discussing it.

This has two purposes:

One, it helps us open our minds to new experiences that may surprise us.

Two, it will boost sales of games that perhaps deserved better. Not by much, but anything extra is good.

If this succeeds I'll check what games you want played and start a poll with the top 6 most mentioned.

The only requirement is you must think the game deserved more sales or a better reception. No sales or score limit.

I need your help! We need at least a somewhat sizeable community for this to be a success. I'll give this project a week to gather some positive reaction and count the games you mention. Tell me if you think it's a good idea or what could be improved.

I'll start. The games I think deserve more:

Yakuza 3, Yakuza 4 (haven't played it yet but I'm sure it deserved more), Demon's Souls.

One moth, one game.

Two birds, one stone.

The second method is more efficient. Besides, I would advice to use an old magazine or something to get rid of a moth instead of a game disc.

Goddammit. I don't know who I hate the most, you or myself.

If it isn't me by now, then I will have to try even harder in the future.

Well, I love myself too much to hate myself, so that's you by default.

Anyway, care to share your opinion about the thread?

It's not going to work and it's unnecessary to begin with.

Whenever someone thinks that a game really is underrated, there's a thread with a detailed original post about it. Then people chime in and talk about their experience with the game and those who didn't play it, but had interest, will ask questions or at least read the impressions of others.

Trying to force a coordinated approach isn't a good way to tackle this. It takes people different amounts of days, weeks or even months to finish a game, so by the time it's time to discuss the chosen game some may have already forgotten about it and don't show up for the thread and others aren't ready for it. The more spontaneous approach I talked about in the above paragraph does much more to help underrated games get more attention.

Well, that's why I said it would need a somewhat sizeable community, so there would always be some people to discuss the game, and I thought a month would be enough for most people. And the rules could be changed.

I already thought about what you said and I understand it, but I thought I would still give it a try.

And that's okay, but mind you, we don't talk a whole lot about games themselves here on VGC. Usually it's sales related (understandable, because this is the very reason why people came here in the first place) or about differences between multiplatform games (pixel counting and the like).

Lol.

We'll see then, but thanks for your input anyway.
