Forums - Sony - I got a Blu Ray player

...and it is not a PS3.

Am I crazy or just plain stupid?

Reason: It is a home cinema system that cost USD 100 less than the cheapest PS3. It has sound and limited internet access. Plus it looks so much sexier.

Why would you be crazy?

Yeah what's the big deal here. I'm sure there are more people with PS3s than stand alone players but I suspect it won't be long before it's the other way around. I have one and am looking to get another soon.

Either way, congrats and enjoy, BR is awesome on a 1080p set. You can find the movies for good prices too. I'm not the type to have a huge movie collection but I do own my personal favs on BR. I just picked up Alien and Aliens at Target last week for $15 each.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

Makes sense if your focus is a home cinema setup.  I have a PS3 and still bought a seperate BR for my main cinema room.  Enjoy.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

But does your Blu-ray player also support Netflix?  Or DLNA streaming from your PC??

The PS3 has far more media center functionality than just Blu-ray.  :P

I think you are crazy. Is a PS3 at $100 not worth it to you? I don't even like any PS3 games but for that price I'd pick on up and play all the PS/PS2 classics I apparently missed.

There are BR players that have DLNA and apps included in them. And those features can be available straight on TV's right now.
