It's been almost a year since the iPhone version of Final Fantasy Tactics The War of the Lions was announced. It looks like Square Enix is at long last ready to release the game.

An update at the game's Facebook page reveals a release time period of between late June and mid July.

An iPad version is also in the works with a release planned for possibly after the iPhone version. It will feature 1024x768 visuals, with such enhancements as redrawn character faces:

Probably a $15 game?

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

I could of swore the iphone/ipad couldn't play games like this ;) Glad to see it has some good games coming. I am not a fan of apple or the iphone/ipad, but I am a fan of gaming and the more devices that offer full fledged games the more compitition we will get and the better deals we will get.

if they release it for android ill get it, if not i always have an emulator that works fine

I don't think that that is how it's going to play out. More like owners of handhelds will be screwed, because third parties will refuse to offer fair prices like we've already seen with Capcom's Ghost Trick.

What was the price difference?

Significant. I am not 100 % sure on this, but I think it was only $10 on iOS compared to standard pricing for DS games which should be $30 in the states.

I think the usual full price high quality games on iPhone/iPad is $10 - $15. S-E games usually start off with $15 and quickly drop to $10. Apple takes 30%, as usual, of course.

Meanwhile, the full price on consoles...

Basically, they went above and beyond to polish up their games and release on iPhone and charge at least half less.

And that's not only S-E doing it. Every publisher that ported their games over to iPhone does it.

When Puzzle Quest 2 was released on DS, it was $30. And then it was released for $20 on PC shortly after with pre-order price of $15. I wanted to buy for the DS but I decided to purchase the PC version instead.

So far the best one is NBA Jam:

Home Console - $50

iPad - $10

iPhone/iPod - $1 on sale (BOOM-shakalaka!)

And yeah, this one will probably cost around $15. Square maintains premium pricing on the App Store, and seems to do fairly well with those prices, too.

It's been so long since FFT was announced for iOS, I'm just glad to know that they're still working on it.
