Forums - General - Trump's presidential election clown car's stopped, & his other failures

Trump was toying with running for president.  Well, until he went birther route, and Obama released the long form birth certificate.  Then, the wheels fell off his clown car he was going around in trying to get elected, and he dropped out of the race.  In a blaze of glory, he says he could of won.

I know Trump has been promoted as some icon of success in America.  But if you look closely at his actual record, it is one failure after another.  Here is a top 10 list of failures, as compiled by Time Magazine:

Can't have success at marriage, can't start business ventures without them going under, can't stay out of bankruptcy court either.  So, exactly WHAT is Trump successful at?  Looks like he has spun an image that has fooled a lot of people, gambled all the time, and happened to get lucky, and then use this branding to sell his name.  Anything else?  And yet, people were ready to vote for him, based on what, his name and him hitting some buzzwords in his talk?

Being able to sell your name is the economic pursuit of many

There used to be a time when you had to do provide a good or service that people paid for, to get rich.  But, I guess in these days, it is all about getting fame and parlaying that into things.  Selling image over substance.  Soon, we will be in the world of Network 23, if we aren't there yet, where the only form of economic growth is media (that is a Max Headroom reference).

I'm not sure he was ever serious about running for president ...

While it may not be a popular opinion, I think a certain number of people run for high office to increase their profile. In a lot of ways, a failed candidate can be more "important" and make more money than the person who holds the office they were running for.

Worked for Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee.

As for failures... i'd bet you could make quite an impressive "fucked up" list for 80% of the worlds successful people.

I think Sarah Palin was (probably) somewhat serious when she was the VP candidate. Since then I think she has become more of a tabloid "politics for profit" candidate.

Effectively, I think either she is smart enough or well managed enough to know that a person can become very wealthy by selling books and speaking engagements to 10% of the population.

Also... trump the game is confusing as hell.  I bought it at a thrift store 4-5 years ago.

Well yeah, I just meant more from the profitability side.

Wonder if Bloomberg was still considering a run.

He was pretty successful at having a hot ass daughter.

But this whole presidential run was just a publicity stunt from the get go.

Did you get the older version, or the newer one which had "You are fired!" on the box?  I personally had little trouble with either version actually.  Then again, I play a lot of Euro boardgames.
