Forums - Nintendo - MDK 2 on WiiWare!!! WTH???

decided to check the Wii shop for shits and giggles right before i started playing some Goldeneye. And to my surprise i see one of the more critically acclaimed games from last gen. MDK 2, didnt own DC and i missed it on PS2, but what the hell is up with the gaming media, How the hell did this get stealth released??? Had this been on XBL or hell maybe even PSN, we would not hear the end of it. I mean for crap's sake where are the reviews? where were the previews, were was anything??? Its not like the WiiShop is overloaded with so much quality content that people cant keep up! IGN, for shame, you make an article about playing some game that came out years ago, but forget about this.

Now that my rant is over, has anyone downloaded it?? Because the only info i can get is that it uses pointer controls. But i wanna know how it runs., if it uses the DC/PC or PS2 version, basically if its a good port. ive looked for info but cannot find any

So you're asspained because Wiiware has a game you like on it and it's not on PSN or XBLA.

Definitely worth making a thread for.

Pixel Art can be fun.

^^^^ no im asspained because it got no coverage in the media at all!! FYI i will be getting this, first thing i buy off of WiiWare in a while

all content is present, uses dc textures (way better), no shadows for some reason, missing some but not all music, runs at 60 fps, don't quite know how they got it all to fit, as if I recal correctly the game without music was 100 and some odd megabytes

has difficultly levels but real men play it on JINKIES

I HAVE A DOUBLE DRAGON CAB IN MY KITCHEN!!!!!!

NOW A PUNISHER CAB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An action game from early in the dreamcasts life(if such a thing is differentialable from late), notable for its silly humor, surreal worlds , great gameplay and above all, brutal difficultly level,

mdk itself doesn't stand for anything

Murder, Death, Kill:

It is revealed in the "Making of MDK" booklet that came with the "Limited Edition" of the game that the term was actually the game's codename; when Shiny came around to coming up with a name for the game, they chose to stick with the codename.

In the installation screen for MDK2, various meanings are shown scrolling down as a backdrop to Kurt diving through or to an unknown destination with "Murder, Death, Kill" highlighted.

In an interview with David Perry in NowGamer, Perry revealed that the original meaning of "MDK" from the company's initial promo video was in fact "Murder Death Kill". However, because the toy company that was supposed to make toys based on the game did not like to have those words printed on the toys, the words were removed and replaced with only "MDK". At the time of the game's release, Perry's official line on the game's title was that it stood for the first initials of game's characters Max, Dr. Hawkins, and Kurt.

I can imagine it was they were in a meeting kicking around ideas, and someone probably threw out "Murder, Death, Kill" as a joke, and they went with it.   Examples of that is IAGO, where someone jokingly threw out International Abstract Games Organization, "IAGO" as the name for an organization to promote abstract strategy games (only plotting and scheming people apply, alluding to the nemesis of the character Othello), and it stuck.

There was a great Ad campain for MDK, so good that I remember it all these years later one of them in a gaming mag was :

MDK? Make Diana King.

Great game, I might get it on WiiWare aswell
