It will cost $30 and this is an experiement from Microsoft. I hope this means more Japanese exclusive games will get a home on Games on Demand.

Just want to play good games
This will be the first time a game has come out on Games on Demand when it didn't see a retail release first, right? This is a good move if it marks a change in policy, as one of the few advantages PSN had (back when it existed) over XBLA was that it could support larger titles.

Hopefully this means that Japanese exclusive games can come to the US without the need of someone to bring it over. Imagine if Gal Gun or Idolmaster comes to Games on Demand.

This could be good for the smaller corporations who may not be able to support a full retail release. Plus these exclusive deals will make MS promote the games which is in turn better for these smaller developers. All this as long as they don't get overpriced.
I like that DS2 is coming to NA but $30 is wayyyyy too much for a DD release. Shit Guwange is $10 and is about the (high)sweet spot for DD games especially a shmup. Now I just recently paid $35 for Mushihimasama Futari, but at least I own a physical copy. As much as I am for localising games I hope this experiment fails as when you are stuck with one DD seller, there is no competition for price.
Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.
Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

In europe it will probably be the same. But i really hope not. Let's see what Rising Star Games will do (if they do anything to begin with).
I'd rather Cave license out Deathsmiles II to Aksys for a localized retail release at $30. I'm not terribly keen on digital distribution. I've bought some DD games but only because they weren't available in retail form. The $50 price point that Deathsmiles 1 started out with in North America was a bit high. They did have a limited edition sku which included a Deathsmiles faceplate and soundtrack CD at no extra cost. Which is a nice treat to hardcore shmup fans over here. But they alienate the more casual audience this way by not making the standard edition cheaper (like $30). I remember seeing a lot of Xbox 360 gamers on here who aren't otaku nerds or hardcore survival horror enthousiasts picking up Deadly Premonition precisely they thought, "seems like it might be interesting. $20, what do I got to lose right?" I myself picked up Deadly Premonition a few months back and it doesn't seem to be my type of thing (gameplay-wise. The story is kinda interesting) but at the time I figured, "hey, $20".
Many not necessarily feel that it's a bad thing to charge $50 for a shmup (hardcore shmup lovers) but in the North American market, these games are perceived to have too little content to warrant a high price tag. After all, shmups are not about quantity of content, it's about trying again and again to get your high score up as high as possible and achieving a 1cc (1 credit complete). It's a game in a pure form that you don't often see in this day and age. And that's what's refreshing about these games. Too many games these days are bloated monstrosities that are far removed from the arcade spirit. This type of game is like straight out of the '80s but with prettier, more detailed 2D anime graphics.
At the end of the day, I'd rather take digital distribution than nothing though. Hopefully we get to see some of the Xbox 360 visual novels and dating sims (lol) get translated and put on this service (ideally I'd prefer retail but if they can't afford it, then I'll take digital distribution over nothing). We've seen RPGs and SRPGs with dating sim elements get localized on consoles but no straight up dating sims. There is a big market of western otaku perverts that is being neglected.
Whoa this is interesting to say the least.
I rather get a disc version still but if this is my only choice I'll get it eventually. I know Deathsmiles 1 wasn't big in file size, I think just over a gig.
It's just that simple.
I'm VERY disappointed. I was hoping for a special edtion, like the first one. I would have bought 2 of them. I want to support localization of Japanese 360 titles, so I will buy it. Would love to see Akai Katana Shin, Steins;Gate, Bullet Soul and Phantom Breaker come over also. Cave and 5pb are holding the fort down in Japan for 360 exclusives.
On the ther hand, digital rights do have their advantages. You will always own them.
I'll definitely get this. Big fan of the original.
