for japanese rpg lovers, i'm afraid it will never get better than it was on the psx

with xenogears,
final fantasy tactics
suikoden 1 and 2 (quite a lot better than the later ones)
final fantasy vii and viii
lunar and lunar eternal blue
breath of fire 3
chrono cross, tales of destiny, valkyrie profile,
brave fencer musashi, draqon quest vii

and i've just name the one i think are the best

im more than sure the R&C games have AAA quality in them and will satify you alot. Just don't except anything really original or revolutionairy|

edit : sorry i was actually going a bit offtopic replying to alex because i was refering to the ps2, not the psx.

Did ps1 have any good platformers?

 the crash bandicoot games were very good =), the best platformers for the psx for sure

metal gear solid, the first and the best in the solid series
the ace combat series and resident evil series saw their ur tcreation and probably best installments on the psx
gran turismo saw its rise, driver, ape escape one the greatest platformer out there, the tekken series saw its rise
vagrant story, amazing game got a 40/40 from famitsu
soul reaver, tony hawk, destruction derby, road rash
etc etc

the psx had good platformer
among them one of the best platformer: ape escape
not just hailed by me, but just read around some reviews and you'll get the picture

the spyro's where fun, and croc, and crash bandicoot is good
