Seriously? What is it with Microsoft and buying people out, do they want world domination or something?

Basically, they are ripping off other companies and shoving their noses into an industry that doesn't want them, just so they FORCE people to use their software and hardware. I am sick to death of having Microsoft shoving inferior (and blatantly copied) products down my throat.

Bing wasn't needed, yet I am constantly getting my it shoved in my face, why do they feel the need to even advertise it.

Let's just hope this falls flat on it's face, along with all of other Microsoft's shenanigans *cough* ZUNE xD *cough*.

All I see here is uneducated and biased rabble...

Look up aquisitions by Google and compare it to Ms and you will see that MS doesn't buy companies nearly as much as they should.

How can I be biased against Bing!?

The re-directions to Bing, forced default search engine, click a link in a Microsoft program and it will take you to a bing search, the god awful adverts, It makes me want to RAGE!

What is the point of making another search engine in the first place? Bragging right? More money in their pocket? Most probably...

And I use my Skype on my PSP to talk to my Dad who lives in Spain, it would be extremely out of order to buy out Skype just to take this feature away from the competition, which is what I predict is going to happen.

After buying Windows Vista for a rediculous amount of money only for it to be crippled by bugs and viruses in a week just before Windows 7 was unveiled, I will always be a Microsoft hater, even if the XBOX 360 is OK.

You think Google was the first web search engine?  I remember using altavista, lycos, hotbot, yahoo and others way before I had heard of a Google.

Internet explorer, no matter how many times I changed the default search, it always changed back to Bing after restarting Internet Explorer, so now I use Google chrome.

Also, in the MSN news feed, it will say "latest article: Osama Bin Laden is dead", I click it and it takes me straight into a Bing search...

Also, my new computers at school run a special version of Windows designed for schools, and the default search engine is convinently locked as Bing.

I don't think I need to mention the adverts, adverts already piss me off a tonne, the Bing adverts make me contemplate suicide.

And the most irritating thing is, was all this really necessary? Microsoft already make plenty of products, why do they need to put another one into an oversaturated market? The XBOX 360 was a smart move since SEGA was out of the picture, but crap like Bing and Zune really tarnish Microsoft's brand.

To each their own I guess.

Zune trashes microsoft brand only because it was a failure. The devices and the software, along with the prepaid service Zune offers are all really good.

As far as bing, I don't see what the problem is with having an alternative to google. I use Google myself (other than maps which Bing has better)...but if Bing can push google to get better, everybody wins.

It was a failure because Microsoft just wanted to stick it to Apple, there was no calling for them.

Same with Bing, unless Bing can magically do something that Google can't then nobody will want to use it over Google. What was the point of making the search engine in the first place. Why can't they innovate instead of slapping a Microsoft sticker on another product and over advertise it. Microsoft has always had successful advertising, that is why they know they can do crap like this.

Anyway, off the topic about butting into a market where they are not needed. This is more about whether Microsoft will be generous or spiteful, will they disable Skype on devices such as the PSP? If so then I am throwing my XBOX 360 out the window. Microsoft will never get a penny from me again, I need Skype on my PSP to contact my Dad.

Nobody except 27% of the market already....and growing.

To be honest Skype is worthless the instant Facebook offers a voice messaging service. This is stupid...

How the hell am I gonna make sexy dirty phonecalls with underage teenage girls when I would be using my facebook account.. my Skype name: Jbieber works way better then my facebook account..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

i have a feeling this would hurt both companies.   skype would hurt since their market would become, more than likely but not necessarily, strictly microsoft products.  not only that, but there are more video communication services opening every day so that would put even more tension on the competitive market.  microsoft would just be pushed further into debt from the 500 mill or whatever it was spent on advertising the kinect, not saying theres anything wrong with that or kinect, just that i dont see how they could be making a profit yet from kinect after spending that much on advertising.

Why don't people ever read the thread? It would make everything so much easier and stop us from having to repeat ourselves time and time again.

And at the second thing. Didn't it sell   10,000,000 copies? With a Microsoft just making $50 out of the $200(not saying they do) they should have made a profit...

Sig thanks to Saber! :D

dont people ever read the replies?  im pretty sure it costs money to buy the raw materials for each kinect as well as hiring people to assemble the device as well as transporting the device to retailers.  so even if they make 50 from the $150 for each device (not sure where you got $200 unless you mean canadian or something) that would balance them out from the 500 mill they spent on advertising yes, but not the actual cost to make the product.  and  what do you mean by making things easier from repeating time and time again.

Last I heard everything was made in house(?), I counted the $50 for pure profit by the way, and again it is 10 million .

Your original statement has already been answered in this thread. Skype would operate as it's own division in Microsoft and won't only support MS products. Meaning everything they are supporting now would still be supported.

Edit: I found an unsourced vgc article that says that MS sells the stores Kinects for $138. So that's an even larger profit then when I originally assumed!

Sig thanks to Saber! :D

Thank you M$ for buying better services to make my gadgets better. WP7.5 aka Mango is going to be beast.  Bing Image search, Bing Vision, Bing Audio, Windows Live Messenger, turn by turn directions.. now throw Skype into that mix along with some Nokia services.

I expect to be able to call people from my 360, then.  And maybe a skype based Kinect game.  They could combine the name Skype and Kinect like they combined the names Kinect and animals to create Kinectimals.  What's a cool name?  I guess they could call it "Skynect"

......Sky...Net?  OH MY GOD!!!  It's happening again!!
