Forums - Nintendo - One (1) exciting new game coming to Wii and DS this year

According to Destructoid, Rayman Origins, which was intended to be released as an episodic digital game on PS360 is now a full retail game featuring No (0) Raving Rabbids as well as Four (4) player co-op, coming to Wii, DS and PS360 this winter:

"It's been a good long while since we last heard about about Rayman Origins, an honest-to-God side-scrolling Rayman platformer with naught a Rabbid in sight. It was supposed to be an episodic digital download game with the first episode arriving around Christmas 2010. According to the latest Game Informer, it looks like plans have changed.

In addition to new game details, such as the inclusion of four-player local co-op, it was announced that the game is now a full disc title. According to series creator Michel Ancel, this switch was made because it was more fitting for a "true sequel."

This news makes me happy. I have no issue with traditional side-scrollers arriving on digital services, but I'm not a fan of the assumption that they can't work as boxed titles anymore. This demonstrates confidence on Ubisoft's part that the game can succeed in the retail space."

Yay Wii?

I guess yes, but only because of the Wii's situation (with one foot in its grave). If things were rosier for the Wii, then I wouldn't classify this news as exciting.

EDIT: You monkey, the Destructoid article says that Gamestop has Sonic Generations listed for the 3DS. Now that IS exciting.

Yeah Sonic is much bigger news..

Former something....

Man I now might buy Rayman I never buy episodic content but if Rayman is going to be a full retail title then its as good as purchased. I hope Ubisoft makes a good profit off of it and brings us more Rayman in the future.

Also Sonic Generations being on 3DS is huge news. Unfortunetly a Sonic game was listed for 3DS since the system was unvieled. I was hoping for an entirely new adventure not Sonic Generations. But I guess I'll take what I can get!

Am I the only one who wants to see a 3D Rayman game where the Rabbids are the enemies?

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Im kinda glad it wont be episodic, probably get for PS3 if its as good as Rayman 1, not right away though.

Meh...

You guys are missing the point. This one is made by none other than Michael Ancel, creator of the original Rayman, not to mention a little game called Beyond Good & Evil which you may have heard about..

Besides, I don't own a 3DS
