Forums - Gaming - Which has a better chance of happening?

This makes perfect sense. For once I can understand the words in the OP.

I too believe this is being blown way out proportion. And what better way to strike fear into someone's heart than to spread misleading news about privacy, one's identity, or CC being stolen.

At the same time, destroy the credibility of a behemoth company. Many already lost their trust with Sony.

I think what the OP was trying to get to is that the people behind this are the crab people of course.

Finally, somebody gets it!

#1, because its not traceable to the culprit. Gas station, restaurant can be traced easily via cameras and data records/receipts, which is why it doesnt happen. Westores are a little less secure, but most dont retain your CC info on file. PSN has already been hacked and the data stolen, so its just more a matter of time. Granted, most people have likely cancelled those CCs by now, if they were smart, at least.

Your comparison is the difference about worrying about your kid being kidnapped vs. your kid already abducted by kidnappers. Its a matter of possession.

Option 7: Me getting another moderation for a post directed at Euphoria14 for taking the bait placed at the end of the original post. Stop tempting me. Must... resist...

Aw, you should have done it anyways.

I was incredibly drunk the night I made this thread.

I have also read that instances like this, where information is obtained through the internet, only makes up for about 11% of all indentity related crimes.

The most dangerous culprit of ID theft is your trash, which is why I tend to burn all my stuff in a fire pit I have in the yard.

I'd say numbers three and five, since both have happened to me (i pinned down fraud from my main credit card as the number being swiped from a train-station Dunkin' Donuts in Philly, and given the timing on the fraud on my debit card and which services had access to the debit card, they had to have taken it from Amazon).

From PSN, I doubt it. But SOE had unencrypted bank numbers and cc numbers.

Plus you could always get your address leaked on the internet

Oh no! Not my address!

There is also a sign near my house with my road name on! That is suicide! And I have my house number on my door! What am I thinking!? Today, somebody in red shorts came up to my house and put a piece of paper through my letterbox. It had my address on it! How did he find it out!?

HELP MEEEEEEE!

...Anyway, enough of that xD. I agree, what a load of overblown nonsense. It's just a load of scaremongering to get web page hits and make lots of money. The media are trying to pass off pathetic speculation as fact. People are too stupid to find out the facts for themselves. The articles on the VGChartz home page did this aswell, they were almost as bad as IGN.

Haha, I like reading your posts. I wouldn't want you banned.

Erm, I really don't think you realize what COMPROMIZED PERSONAL DATA means. It means that the hackers have access to PSN user's credit card numbers addresses, phone numbers, and anything else that was stored on the PSN servers. Whether or not the hackers use this info is completely irrelevant. Fact of the matter is, they CAN use it. Obviously, you don't care about the fact that you very easily could become a victom of identity theft, but rather, care only about protecting Sony. It's kinda sad actually.

Then why did you say I should have called you moronic anyway? Even if we both know (and pretty much everyone else too) that it wasn't meant serious, it could still get me in trouble.

If there's one constant in the history of VGC, it's that I always fall victim to silly moderations.

You shouldn't get in trouble if the person you said it to said it was fine. In that case who did you offend?

Like I said, I was really really drunk when I made this thread, so being called moronic for doing so is justified.
