to kinda further your point, there was a article a day or so ago stating that there has been no misused credit cards since the psn has been down.

I think actually expecting something bad is too much, but I certainly believe people have a right, and for the sake of principle, duty, to be angry. While they obviously take risks with cards normally, Sony put their information at risk without their consent when they trusted Sony.

If I trip, it's fine, but if you make me trip, even if accidentally, that's a completely different story. Bad analogy, I know, but it conveys the message.

I do think that this is just for the sake of principle, though, and that it's quite meaningless to be seriously worried and that Sony certainly seems to be doing a good job trying to prevent losses now.

I agree, of course they have the right to be angry, but to be honest, your information is at risk the moment you give it to anyone, even the bank.

I just don't think people should start getting all paranoid about the whole situation and relax. It's does them no good to get all stressed out you know?

Yeah I read that as well.

However, let us say that 10M active Credit Cards of info was taken. You have any idea the remote odds of yours actually being used?

You have a better chance getting struck by lightning.

You don't want it.

American Express wanting me to sign up for a card. Banks sending me cashiers checks because they want me to use them. Discovery wanting me to sign up for a card. Places sending me wedding info. "Want to buy a gun? Well, here is a brochure for that!".

The list goes on and on.

I will say it again. You don't want it.

I am going with New York Lottery even if i don't live there. I've heard of their legendary amounts. Oh how awesome it would be to win that :D

From PSN, I doubt it. But SOE had unencrypted bank numbers and cc numbers.

Plus you could always get your address leaked on the internet

Or you could just put it on facebook and it's like the same thing.

Just thought I would put this out there since I tend to believe this PSN thing is overblown and that some people are more paranoid than need be.

I haven't changed by cards yet, but I intend to. I am just being lazy about it. However I asked a few people at work and not surprisingly they all thought the same way I do about the situation.

What has better odds of happening?

#1.) CC info from PSN de-encypted and used.

#2.) Struck by lightning.

#3.) CC info taken when card is used in restaurant.

#4.) CC info taken when card is used at gas station.

#5.) CC info taken when buying from any online retailer.

#6.) Winning the New York Lottery.

What I am trying to say is this.

For all you know your CC info could have just as easily be taken during normal day activities and getting bent out of shape about your info at the moment does you no good. Credit and Debit cards naturally carry risk and nothing is completely safe, especially in places where it is handed off and people walk away with them.

Just relax. If anyone is going to be paranoid and get bent out of shape they probably shouldn't use them to begin with.

You get sex bots though and they have their benefits...

Former something....

This makes perfect sense. For once I can understand the words in the OP.

I too believe this is being blown way out proportion. And what better way to strike fear into someone's heart than to spread misleading news about privacy, one's identity, or CC being stolen.

At the same time, destroy the credibility of a behemoth company. Many already lost their trust with Sony.

I think what the OP was trying to get to is that the people behind this are the crab people of course.
