Forums - Nintendo - What does Nintendo need to do to save 3DS?

They don't. They have everything sorted. They just need to release the quality SW as soon  as possible, then they'll  be fine

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Mario Kart will probably save the 3DS. All the 3DS needs is games.

Mario and prob pokemon grey exclusive to the 3ds. And some good thrid party games sprinkled about lol.

This.

The 3DS is fine men, when the DS was release, the Game boy SP was still selling like hot cakes, way more than the DS, only differense is that the DS sells were high too for some reason, saying that the 3DS need saving is stupid and ridiculus, the DS have Mario for release too, that game alone can Push 5Mill to any console and popularise it to no end, you need to undestand that a console without games is just a empty box without toys to play, you will go after the box that is full of toys.

I make you a bet, when OoT come out, in less than 2 months more than 2mil 3D will sell in america, IF the game dont flop on the quality we all are expecting of course.

Follow the plan they laid out leading up to launch.

That'll handle things just fine.

They need games, also to get good "experiences" with some of the 3DS features that haven't been touched much on such as the 3D effect for a game built for it, as well as maybe some new ways to use the AR cards or a game based around it.

Nintendo is already doing all they need to do.

For the 1 millionth time of me repeating this, the 3DS got more games and support at its launch than the original DS.  And look how much the original DS 'failed' over its lifetime.  And by the end of the year, the 3DS is set to have over 100 games with VERY strong third party support.  People need to quit spouting doom and gloom for the 3DS when its only been out for a couple months.

If Nintendo needs to do anything, its just to make a 'killer app' that shows off the features of the device.  Like Kirby's Canvas Curse did for the original DS.

Everyone here just wants the same games that nintendo have been playing safe with every generation. Mario and Zelda... What they should do instead of the 100th mario game is making a big new Franchise.

I haven't read any of these doom and gloom threads so if I'm saying something that's already been posted, please forgive me.

Remember when the PS1 and Saturn launched?  The best selling console that year was the Snes.  Remember when the PS2 launched?  The best selling console that year was the PS1.  Remember when the 360 launched?  The best selling console was still the PS2.

Nintendo now has two full fledged portable consoles on the market.  One is still selling like hotcakes and the other has backwards compatability but the library isn't too enticing, yet.  When the 3DS come into its own, it will do well.  In the mean time, like pretty much every generation in the past, an established console with a great library of games, and a user friendly price is going to take the top spot.  Right now, Nintendo is its own competition.  This is nothing new and nothing that hasn't happend before.  You guys aren't new to this, are  you?

*this is all from memory, mind you.  there may be a couple of exceptions......but I doubt it.*

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

The 'Wii' lineup, Brain Training and Nintendogs not big enough for you?  Arguably, the IPs created during the Wii/DS years were their most successful since the NES.

Not to disagree.  I think they should make more new IPs.  Kinda proving your point, that they did recently and they turned into the best selling games of this gen.  But even Nintendo can't come up with a whole new genre defining game every year.  The majority of their games will always be series they've always created like Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, Metroid and Kirby.  And that formula hasn't failed yet.

In all honesty, I wish they made more Metroid and Kirby games than they already do.
