250gb? Who /really/ is going to go over it? And even if they do... it's only another $10 per 50gb. I actually think these prices/caps are more than fair. Why should 98% of users suffer while the other 2% are using 10 times the average?

I pass that at least 500 times over a month.

I love Roadrunner internet <3 40/5 internet.

Cool. And if you were with AT&T, you'd be paying an extra $50 dollars a month for the bandwidth. I'm sure the amount you'd save, on the whole, based on the fact that the only way you're using that much is (most probably) pirating.

$50? I'd be paying them at least $5000 a month since I download monthly in the terabytes.

Ah, I thought you meant that you passed 500gig.

I'm a fan of paying for what you use, when you use it - so, paying a penny for every 20mb, or so... but during peak times, a penny will only buy you 10mb, or something (just random figures). Putting a price on usage controls consumption, and makes sure that everybody pays for what they use.

If I'm only using a few hundred meg each month to browse Facebook.... I shouldn't have to be paying through the roof prices to help cover the cost of investing in the infrastructure required to delivery terabytes of data to other users. If they want that much, they should have to pay a fair amount.

Where do you get the time to watch/play all that shit?

I mean eventually, at least in terms of dling games, you are going to run out of good games to download. Plenty are released every month, but most are trash.

Or are you the kind of person who likes to download everything just in case, at some point, you might want to use it?

What do you do to get that high?

i download (pirate) software to try, movies, anime, and demos of games. Plus MMORPGs and League of Legends.

How do you even see how much your using?

I'll never pay for this service then.

well when you add up all the files I download, its easy to estimate that massive amount of crap. Typically an MMORPG in itself will take up a massive amount of bandwidth due to the constant need to update everything going on in the game world.

Some torrent programs show how much you've used since installation...you could record the number on the first of the month and then look at it at the end of the month, over the course of a year (although, this assumes that you solely use torrents to download).

Yeah, we're switching from AT&T because of this bullshit.  Sucks that the only decent alternative around here is Cox. I don't understand why we can't get Verizon's Fios yet.  We've had fiber in the city for years now, but for some reason they haven't brought the service to anywhere in the state.

And for those saying that caps are pretty high, remember that even an hour of Netflix HD is about 2gbs worth of data, and that figure will only go up as quality improves.  For a household like mine with 2-3 PCs online at any given time, plenty of video streaming going on, plus lots of digital downloads (I downloaded about 20gbs last month between Metro 2033 and Portal 2 on Steam), you hit those caps quick.  And we're on DSL, so we'll only have a 150gb cap.

I will. So incredibly fast you have no idea.
