But did you ever ask.

If it's okay for them to charge for overage, why aren't you getting refund for under usage?

Here in NZ internet still hasn't caught up. For example at my flat we still have a 10GB cap and that's considered about normal.

because that's not the plan you are buying

I think honestly Netflix has many advantages to piracy. Lack of viruses to worry about, no need to store the files on your hard drive, streaming capabilities mean no waiting for a download. But NetFlix is still missing all the latest content. NetFlix needs to get some better contracts for new releases however at the 8$ price tag its going to be alittle hard for them to provide up to date movies. I have a friend who pirates everything that comes to theaters, he then deletes the files after watching and in most cases buys them when they come into store. So price isn't an issue for him, its availibility.

I think if NetFlix could get us new releases faster and in larger quantities then more and more pirates would switch over. But as I said that will not likely happen as content providers can make way more money selling copies then allowing people to stream them for very little profit!

With the recent cap of 150GB in the US of A, Netflix is going to get a hit, no?

I believe that is only one company, At&T. I have verizon and as far as I know I dont have any sort of cap.

Yeah. I'm with Comcast and I have a 250GB cap. Considering that I occasionally torrent, play games online, operate four websites on the side (a lot of FTPing going on), AND Netflix almost every night and never get within 50GB of my 250GB limit, I'm pretty sure that 99% of residential users will be just fine.

Yea, I agree. I just read an article on it and At&T said the average monthly usage is around 18 gig a user.

if that is the case then why even put a cap

obviously they are hurting so they put the cap on

Whoa! What a surprise! Who could have seen it coming that if you provide a convenient, well priced, service people will not torrent?
