Lego and AAA ?

Something does not compute.

You're using this term very loosely. I mean by your definition the HD consoles have around 200 AAA titles each.

You're probably right - I was just trying to avoid being so narrow that nothing would qualify.  However, the Lego games do sell in very large numbers and are, i think, pretty big budget affairs.  They don't really appeal to me (I played the very first one and saw no reason to try another), but they clearly appeal to quite a few.

Personally, I see a AAA title as a game you would consider buying a new system system in order to play it.  That's very hard to quantify, however.  Even so, of the third party games I listed at the top, a few probably do qualify (e.g. MH3).

If you think the Lego games aren't AAA, you should see some of the games suggested by others!

I've never seen any advertisement for a Lego game. Not more than the game I've mentionned really.

Anyway this seems like a very subjective way of qualifying AAA. And besides, a game doesn't actually have to be well advertised to be considered AAA by the developers themselves. It's the publisher's job to take care of the marketing.

Do you really want a list?

If you could.

For example:

No More Heroes 1 and 2

The Last Story

Xenoblade (Could become pretty popular once released worldwide but Japanese sales were disappointing)

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands (The Wii version was made independently from the other versions and was highly advertised)

Madworld (Managed to sell well at a 9,99$ price point but it certainly didn't bring them much money as they most likely overshipped a lot)

Little King's Story

Zack & Wiki

Dead Space Extraction

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

Red Steel 2

On the other hand, they are plenty of bad games that did awesome on the Wii lol

I'm only givin you LKS. The others are either way too short, or not out in the West yet, hence there are still not close to their sales potential.

Maayybe DSE, haven't played that one yet.

The sales were still disappointing in their respective market (talking about Xenoblade and The Last Story).

But as someone mentionned, I forgot that Xenoblade and The Last Story are actually first-party. Still bad numbers though lol

Did you just completely ignore the criteria set out?

I read them all and came up with that list.

What's wrong?

They all bombed for a reason, and none of them were heavily advertised or AAA.

EDIT: Well, the small tiny bunch of AAA 3rd party games (like 2 to 4) didn't bomb

I'd agree, but in the absence of an agreed definition, that may be inevitable.  How would you define AAA (out of interest)?  As for the developers and publishers potentially disagreeing, that perhaps just further highlights the difficulty of defining AAA.  A developer might work its collective and metaphorical socks off to produce a fantastic game, but if nobody ever hears about it it's not likely to reach a wide audience.   AAA can't just refer to quality, can it?  It means more than simply A-grade.

Can we define AAA first

To me a AAA game is a high budget, well reviewed, well advertised game, and IMO at 5 million LTD sales.

In my own definition of AAA, I can only think of Red Steel 2.

I would add Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles but I don't think it "bombed"..

For me AAA is simply a high budget video game.

It might not end up being good or it might not receive much marketing but if it has a high budget it's AAA.

Recent example is Homefront. I'd consider it AAA even though it was generally poor quality wise. The development of the game was big and it had a big ad campaign.

That's also the definition publishers use to describe their games.

I see a lot of low budget games in those AAA lists.

(That term needs to die.)

Xenoblade (Could become pretty popular once released worldwide but Japanese sales were disappointing) In line with others new IP's.

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands (The Wii version was made independently from the other versions and was highly advertised) No.

Madworld (Managed to sell well at a 9,99$ price point but it certainly didn't bring them much money as they most likely overshipped a lot) For a new IP in a soccer moms console, sold very well.

Little King's Story

Zack & Wiki

Dead Space Extraction Not sure about this...

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories The other versiones sold a lot better than Wii version?

Red Steel 2 Super bomba...

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

im sorry but some of these games are too damn funny, MOH Heroes 2??? the Wii version did worst than the PSP version which did worse than the original Heroes which was PSP exclusive

PoP Wii version did worst than the HDs

Tenchu that game is C rated at best

Force Unleashed 2?? i want what your smoking because that game bombed on all consoles and surprise the Wii version was the worst selling.

S&P star successor?? nope that game didnt set the charts on fire, damn shame too

Tvs.C loved it, but id bet most people dont even know what a Tatsunoko is or even care

I think we should just see about AA titles or even A titles. Cause Epic Mickey is the only AAA i can see that meets the requirements and i dont even think the meta is that high
