"as soon as that negligence results in the loss" lol so negligence is apparently ok until claims can be made that it is causing problems or until the media overhypes the negative effects that an alleged case of negligence may or may not have

That's apparently all we can go on until there's another way. Technically, it could be the point when the hacker polled the PSN server and found that they were using an outdated version of Apache.

That's the way the world works. The drunk driver who never gets in an accident gets off with a lighter sentence than the person who does the exact same thing and kills somebody.
Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.
Also 'data is leaked all the time by these companies'?
How many times in history has any company leaked tens of millions of customers data?

@Rath
....um just this week - gsmarena ( dot ) com/android_location_tracking_troubles_sound_familiar-news-2586.php
apparently certain iphone and android apps leak personal info like location of the user... if you want more examples im quite sure and i can find many more from this year alone... btw 10 mil? i thought it was 77 mil? that number is shrinking fast lol... quite funny how people are so easily influenced by sensationalisation from the press
edit: rath i swear this will be the funniset thing ever if you own either an android phone or iphone

Are you mixing up the figures? 77m PSN users were affected by the first hack, 12 million affected by the second SOE hack.
Edit: I see what you did there. You realise that 77 million is in the "tens of millions" categoy?

effected is a little storng not to mention inaccurate, I'd bet atleast 10 mil of those 77mil didn't use their real information atleast not all their real info and most people probably didn't even get a phising scam, which the vast majority who did probably just sherreded it along with their junk mail so yeah effected is way too strong
o_O
77 mil users? even the ones with duplicate accounts?
but regardless im quite sure the iphone and android user base is substantially higher and thats just one example from this week alone... as i said b4 if you guys want more examples google and several other search engines make the job easy, but i suppose most people would rather just assume that leaks like this are the rarest thing to happen in the world of technology and that sony's leak was the most damaging one in history ( even though to my knowledge no users have been affected yet )

You....bet
Funny, before you were trying to hold me to account, no matter how much proof I was showing at Sony's carelessness, yet the proof of your argument is "I'd bet". So, do we have any proof here? Or am I the only one who has to back up his claims.

There have been confrimed reports of people who don't normally get junk email, getting junk email after the breach!
