if i were nintendo, i would for once be innovative and create a new IP rather than blaming 3rd parties while producing more of the same games nintendo made 20 years ago.

what they need to do is invest in studios who will be committed to creating hardcore exclusives for nintendo rather than hoping the 3rd parties ditch the xbox and ps3 for some reason unknown to logic.

the initial costs will be great but it pays in the long run....and you wont need to pay $100m for exclusivity from a 3rd party either.

WTF???

You can't be serious...

just look at their new ip's this gen.

theres a reason they still rely on mario and zelda.

So you claim the Wii series titles aren't innovative? I'd like to point out that advancing game controls qualifies as innovation. New characters or settings doesn't, unless those choices directly influence gameplay. Nintendo brought new gaming experiences to the Zelda and Mario franchises while keeping the protagonists.

Nintendo does not need to buy studios like Activition or RockStar. I fear if they do, it'll run the same scenario with what happened when Microsoft bought Rare. Rare now does not even hold a candle to their former selves.
Anyway, I think Nintendo should create their own rogue studio. A studio who understand their philosophy of success and understand how they run their business model.
They almost had that with Rare when Rare created Conker.
I mean they like to have 'dark' versions of their characters anyway. Why not take it further and create a new IP with just that.

Or they can start working with third party studios such as Silicon Knights and create Rate M game(s) again like Eternal Darkness.

There are so many things Nintendo can do without wasting their money and buy Activision or Rockstar. Besides neither of them, IMO, are creative enough to be under Nintendo. Nintendo is a trend-setter

Well i know Nintendo has huge market value wiki has them at like 85 billion (idk lol). But i dont think they have the money to just waste on like that 2 billion is a big waste when their only gonna make around that much back in a year im guessing.  If i was nintendo i would do what they always do focus on making good games and fun experiences hopefully the next console follows.

You mean...like they did with the Wii?

That's all fine and good.  But the 'Wii Effect' has worn off.  And next gen they're going to need to have support from third parties to stay in the lead.  I don't think, even if they did come out with some new amazing IP, it would sell another 20 million units.  Wii came out at the perfect time, and now everyone is trying to take its established 'casual' market.  It should do fine, as it always has, with making Mario, Kirby, Zelda and Metroid games.  But as for the unique IPs taking over...I think that's long past.

Well, they've also been trying to do this during the Wii gen.  They aquired exclusive deals (or outright bought) companies like Brownie Brown, Monolith, Genius Sonority and Next Level games to add to their already extensive line up like Intelligent Systems, Game Freak, Camelot, Retro Studios and HAL Lab.  And pretty much since the N64 days, they've set aside a lot of resources to create 'core' friendly games.  Some did well, like Metroid Prime.  Others did okay, like F-Zero GX and Star Fox Assault.  Still others flopped big time like Disaster: Day of Crisis.

All signs are pointing to the fact that Nintendo needs to gather some exclusive deals with third party companies who have made a living making good games on other peoples systems.  This doesn't mean they should stop trying to make a good 'core' game.  Another Metroid Prime could be right around the corner.  But it would be a lot more profitable in the long run if they got something like Assassins Creed, GTA, Final Fantasy or Call of Duty on their system as an exclusive.  Though if the rumors of Cafe are to be believed, exclusives might become non-existant next gen if all three consoles are near the same power.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

I'd drop Wii price to $100 and introduce all the older ever green titles to $25 "greatest hits" product range

Why would you think that this is a good idea?

Have you seen the Godfather and Scarface's sales?

Better yet, Nintendo should buy the IP rights to the now defunct True Crime games and make it even more badass than any GTA game. 1st party Nintendo GTA-style game.

They should also buy the IP rights to the now defunct TimeSplitters series and revive that one too. We have too many serious FPS games, we need another quirky, fun one.

Hey! Don't hate on Captain Rainbow!

On topice: Nintendo should tell us if we can have 3D video chat with the 3DS and make a Super Smash Bros. RPG game, racing game, sports game, fps game, RTS game, fitness game, and sandbox game for their next console. They will each sell 20 million. : D
