I haven't really been following American politics much lately. I can't believe that this is even an issue, let alone just how large of one it was.

I heard Donal Trump's interview with Anderson Cooper; he sounded bananas.

A somewhat similar, yet less asinine, attempt has been made to slander the Liberal Party leader here in Canada. Fortunately, it has seemingly been dismissed by the public as nonsense. Don't get me wrong, our politicians meander around issues all the time and stick to their taglines the same as most others do (and people buy into it just the same), it's just that it's a bit surprising - no, alarming, to see something this ridiculous take off as much as it has.

Edit: That being said, as I haven't been following, I don't really know the context - namely, who was pushing the issue (media? Trump?)

I wonder about that also.  He is said to have a temper problem, and word about his treatment as a POW might of come up.  With Obamas though, his race does impact thing.  Concerns about his race comes out in the Muslim angle, for example.  Being different ends up making people leary of you.

Do you really?  Wouldn't it be better to label it as an X-File, and decide to not look into it?  I think things would be much safer that way.

His numbers of people questioning his citzenship aren't that far off trumps, though like I said, that could just be to angry democrats so it's hard to say.

The Muslim thing doesn't have so much to do with his race so much as it does his Dad.

I mean, how many other prominent black people have been accused of being "Secret Muslims".   Just the one guy who's dad was a Muslim.

Granted an atheist ex-muslim, but still a muslim... and some branches do suggest if you were born a muslim you always are, blah blah blah  "Logic!"

It's the same with the birth certificate issue.

It neither exdists because he was black.  It exists because his dad was a muslim, and both of his parents were overseas very shortly before his birth.

With no definitive "albi" until the long form certificate came out.
