So now you're not making sense.

First off, they were not trying to bring down the PSN, they were specifically taking information.  Sony took down PSN, so strike the theory they were trying to take down the PSN.

So that only leaves they were trying to take CC information or corporate sabotage.  Either way, they're looking for information and that goes against what you were saying that they weren't looking at the information.

Again, this is a pretty big deal.  People need to know about it and need to take steps to protect themselves by watching their information and changing information if they need to.  You can claim it could be for whatever you reason you want but as it stands, they did take that private information, that is straight from Sony's mouth.  Just because nothing has happened doesn't mean it won't.

Whatever the case, I'm likely never to change your mind because you're blindly devoted.  Luckily I don't really care if you don't monitor your credit and change your passwords.

There's no proof they were trying to take information, just that they had acess to it, and there's the bait and switch tactic, pretend to go for something to make your actual goal easier, this method has been more effective at briging psn down then anons brute force tatics, and again theres no proof they were looking for the info just that they had access to it and again theres no proof they took the info or even looked at it just that they had the ability to acess to it you are operating under an assumption of an assumption

seriously?  your going to just brush this off and say that they just used a scare tactic by opening up pandoras box to shut down psn?

yea i would love to hear sony release that.  "don't worry, we believe that the hackers just showed us they could steal all our info.  It was like in die hard 4, the guy just broke into the pentagon on his laptop to show us how weak our infastructure was"  nobody worry, the hacker is a good guy, he won't use any of that.  they were just proving a point

continue to purchase stuff on our NEW secure psn, trust us, were sony

how does purchasing go on psn?  i know when i purchase on teh wii i have to enter in my address and so forth like i do on any online site and it has to match my credit cards BILLING address.  I can't enter in random bullshit stuff and hope it works.

I have no idea I use psn cards, I'll look it up, yeah it's the same you need your credit card to match your name from a forum post, so it could be wrong lol I don't get that though, what if you use your parents CC or something to buy something, with their premission whatever

i'm assuming anytime you use credit card info you have to have matching billing address.  so if you use your parents, you STILL have to enter in correct billing address.

What if your parents are divored and one uses a PO adress for his credit card and lives with their new squeze I doubt the kids psn would have that adress on it

Of course not, I'm just saying it's another possibility, there are so many possibilities and so little confirmed information that it's riddicles to claim any one is for certain

to use a credit card you need to have the correct billing address.

so if his divorced dad lets him use his card, he needs ot ask his dad for that correct billing address.  it doesn't matter where he lives.  i all the time put in a different shipping address than the biilling address.  but no matter where i ship something i have to input the correct billing address or else the purchase won't happen.

yea i have said that that would have been the most brilliant move annon could have done if they wanted to screw sony over big time.  Hack into all this personal info.  then seeing as tehy are saying they are rightous they would not keep any of it, or whatever.

BUT you say don't look at the worst case scenerio.  Isn't this scenerio looking that most rose petaled, rainbow filled, snuggly bear hugs, best case scenerio?

I listed like 5 senarios he just disregarded that bringing down psn as possibly being the intent so I just went into more detail thats all, and the most rosye petaled rainbow filled, snuggly bear hugs, best case scenerio is that it was a white hat hacker who was just trying to make Sony improve their security

well if die hard 4 taught us anything is that that white hat hacker will years later decide to cause a fire sale, and steal all our money

So you're basically saying it's implausible to assume they did anything with the information they did take but it's perfectly reasonable to assume they were pulling off some overly complicated bait and switch tactic?

Yeah, we're done here.  I'm not even convinced you believe yourself.

No waht I'm saying iis you shouldn't assume they took the information when there no proof they did or even could on a massive scale, the only thing we know is they had the ability to acess it, we don't even know that they did yet you are talking like it's a fact that they took everyones info
