that's actually pretty accurate. When the Ocarina remake, Mario Kart, or Mario 3DS arrive you'll see a HUGE jump in sales and demand

I'm waiting for... well, no I'm not. I already have a 3DS. But I can't wait until a firmware update comes out and some new games too (and until their prices drop somewhat... I've decided that I'm not buying more games for full price for now, so my third wanted launch game - Ghost Recon - is still not bought)

I don't think that's the whole story. Saying that "people just don't get how cool this really is!" is usually not the right response. I mean, it'll still outsell NGP unless something goes hideously wrong, but I still feel like people just think this is another DS variant in a long line of variants.

Yea Iwata got that right, I am waiting until there are games on it that I want, such as the next iteration to pokemon (be it gray, or next gen).
Also a price drop could be handy, along with some hardware issue fixes such as battery life and wider field of 3D viewing. But tbh, as long as they have the games, I will pay my money and I know it will happen eventually.

Consumers know they want a 3DS but are delaying their purchase until a wider range of games is available, believes Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata. |
And that's all that needs to be said. Its the same thing that happened to the GBA and DS people. Once more third party games come out, it'll take off.
People need to stop making a dozen '3DS has failed' threads. The original DS took a year to get off the ground. If anything, the 3DS will probably take off as soon as Resident Evil and Paper Mario come out.

My sentiments exactly.
Suuure Iwata, good excuses you got there for investors. I mean, you just launched an overpriced system with uninspiring games and horrible battery life. Clearly a recipe for success!
Fair enough, he mentions that good games will make people buy the 3DS, which is entirely true, but from the ones he gave, apart from possibly mario kart, none of them will substantially lift 3DS sales.
The price of software is too high. They should drop prices on compelling software, not raise them.
