Forums - Sony - What people blaming Geohotz and the "hackers" seem to be missing...

If you can't bring yourself to say that Sony has and is acting extremely retarded on security between PS3 hacking and this there is something seriously wrong with you. I personally think it would be difficult for doctors to truely work out the cause but im sure a nice padded room and a lot of meds will sort it out.

I'm dumbfounded by Sony's ineptitude. I can't believe PSN has been down or near a week. What the hell kind of security do they have? I'm glad Portal 2 gives access to the PC and Mac versions of the game.

That only works if you had time to get on PSN and log into Steam to unlock the Mac/PC code.

Guess who has two thumbs and didn't get to do that before the outage?

THIS GUY!

You can't plug in the code directly through Steam?

I don't even remember since activating my Steam license was the second thing I did after popping the game disc into the PS3. I was flip flopping so often between Mac, PC and PS3 versions of Portal 2 that I couldn't remember which version I'd played to get to the current check point.

Hey, Rocketpig!  What the hell are you doing on VGChartz all day?  Shouldn't you be drawing me some new Variables pages?

I'm working on it, I'm working on it.

I'm also working on a completely new site, too. I think it will look a lot spiffier.

Okay then.  I'll be on the look out for the new site, too!

I'm back on track with a new page every Monday (work, life, comic burnout, and a new PS3 got in the way for a few weeks) and I have to stick to it so I can finish up the first issue in time for San Diego Comic Con.

As for the new site, I expect to see it go live anywhere from this weekend to two weeks from now, depending on my motivation level.

Basically, it goes like this:

Buy Portal for PS3, pop it into the machine. Log into Steam using your Steam account on the PS3. Play Portal.

At that point, you're allowed to install the game on Mac or PC because Steam has logged you as playing the PS3 version. Since PSN is down, I cannot log into Steam and start the process.

you might be right,I don't know anything about computer/server sercuity, but that still does'nt justify what the so called hacker's did.

So the Steam code only works after your PS3 version has been "activated" through PSN. Interesting.

I just assumed it was a Steam code like any other code you can buy to activate software directly through Steam.
