Basically in the thread title.

What kind of effect will the Project Cafe (Stream) have when it releases.  I think obviously it will be the catalyst for the next gen, forcing Microsoft and Sony to release new systems in 2013.  However, what kind of effect do you think it will have on the current generation of hardware?  Will Xbox 360 and PS3 get boosts?  or will Nintendos new console steal there thunder in hurry?

It will patch bleeding to Sony/X-box. Other then that I think the Industry is really in a un-healthy position.

Looks like the market is really cornered to the point I can't see it growing very much.

Need to see what the system does, and if it meets unmet demands of the market currently.  If it does, the effect can be Wii-like growth.

If they use those streaming gamepads, it may affect the handheld market (targeted at the NGP hardware?). Nintendo could be aiming to attack the tablet market and to a lesser extent the mobile one.

Why get a handheld when you can have next gen home portable handheld? The 3DS can differentiate from the Stream with it's 3DS screen and portable nature, while the mobile portability is still one of its best qualities. 

We need more information on what exactly this project is, but atleast if some of the rumours come true, it would affected some of my future purchases.

TBH the only major effect I see it having on is on the handhelds, especially 3DS, in a negative way

Considering that none of the rumors have been confirmed, I REALLY don't know. Considering that Nintendo is the ONLY one of the Big Three that really thinks outside the box it could be anything

What's the point of this thread without any basic knowledge like:

- price

- performance

- type of controls used

- bc (yes or no)

For now it can only have negative effect on short term wii sales

I know these kind of threads are expected, but don't know basically anything about the Wii's successor, therefore we can't predict it's impact on pretty much anything.
