I'm currently reading two books.
The first is the first book in Asimov's Foundation series and its really enjoyable so far.
The second is the graphic novel "From Hell" by Alan Moore which is typical Moore as its bloody brilliant. Its huge, detailed, has a great art style and really is up there with Watchmen and V for Vendetta as one of his seminal works.

Fucking phenomenal book. Read the first 3, I think, but then skip the rest. I am not sure if it's 3 or 4, but I am pretty sure it was 3.
Then go do yourself a favor and find a copy of "The End of Eternity" by Asimov. Finally find a copy of "City" by Cliffard Simak. I don't think those last 2 have been in print in forever so they may be hard to get a hold of. But they are absolutely mindblowing.

I was reading an article on Yahoo! a while back about how fairy tales that we see interpreted today are nothing like the original works. I was curious so I downloaded it from the amazon book store and started reading. I was hooked! Stories of murder, betrayal, and sex in the guise of children's stories. I probably read about one fairy tale a day when the stories about slave life get too depressing (which is pretty much every single chapter--who knew?). Anybody that thinks that video games and such are too violent needs to read some fairy tales. It's no big deal for a parent to kill their children or for someone to kill their best friend in those stories! |

I still read but not as much as I used too. As a kid I loved books but I've gradually drifted away. It's simply not as convient as watching a dvd or as interactive as a videogame.
Yes through sadly i'm down to 10-20 per year from 50-60 in high school.

For school, just the ones I had to read, same thing now in the university, only that I prefer the stories I read at school over the law school things I have to read now.
Because of that, I dont read if Im not obligated.
But I do remember liking some books from my school years, like the catcher in the rye and 100 years of solitude, only that unlike a movie, its tedious to read again a whole book you liked once, could be like rewatching the whole DBZ series or playing a huge RPG again xD

Dammit guys! We have a great book thread right here http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=124891, don't let it die, if it dies, then I'm going to have to make another one in a years time. Let's try and beat that stupid RPG thread, they ain't got nothing on us bookophile's!
Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

I liked it, it might not be for everyone but if it helps, its very recognized and considered a great book by guys who are into them. Its very long and sometimes you can get confused since lots of characters in different times share the same names.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_Hundred_Years_of_Solitude See if that helps, I recognize it can be a pain reading it sometimes but in the end it was worth it at least for me.
