Wow @ Gears 3!

Seeing ME3 on that list makes me so very happy!

Anyways here's the Gears 3 vs Halo Reach comparison. BTW notice that Gears 3 pre-orders got adjusted up roughly 30k.

You reckon Gears will have bigger opening than Reach?

I don't know about it selling 4 million its first week but 3.5 million seems pretty likely at this point. Even ioi thinks its possible that this game will have an opening like Halo Reach.

So far I've heard nothing but positive things about the beta (I played it too and actually thought it was pretty damn fun)

Needless to say this game will be huge and a 3-3.5 million FW/8-9 million LT is looking pretty doable.

22 weeks to go and its already at half million in Americas alone so yeah i reckon its possible.

Why would EA move Battlefield 3 back to March? Every PR statement they've made about the game states that they're going to put it up against Call of Duty, and I don't see why we should expect any different.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

how is uncharted 3 doing compared to gow 3?

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

I was gonna add in an extra column for GOW3 but it was too much work.

A. @ bolded: On PS3, Uncharted 2 has sold more than any Assassin's Creed game, so not quite.

B. Call of Duty may make an impact (which I said), but it won't be substantial.

C. Gears and Halo (also as I said) will do nothing to Uncharted 3. They just won't.

D. Being strong competition doesn't mean you instantly impact others in a critical way. Sure, anything can be competition, but anything won't be competition.

Like you, all I can do is speculate, but I stand by the assessment that outside of CoD and maybe Skyrim, I don't see Uncharted 3 affected by much else in any meaningful way.

So you can tell me in all honesty you think this lineup won't have an impact on someone's sales.  You believe that all these games will see similar levels of success all releasing in a VERY narrow window of time, but somehow people will generate enough money to see them all see simliar success rates or even better ones?

1.  Gears of War 3

2.  Uncharted 3

3.  Halo CE remake

4.  Call of Duty

5.  Batman Arkham City

6.  Mass Effect 3

7.  Elder Scrolls Skyrim

8.  Assassins Creed 3

9.  Battlefield 3

And that not even including games that may be announced at E3 or big franchises that will launch late in the year and will generate big legs throughout the holidays such as

10.  Forza 4

11.  Resistance 3

12.  Kinect

13.  Possibly an NGP launch.

Sorry but quarter 4 is too big, in fact the largest in gameing history I believe in terms of software.  Someones sales, if not multiple franchises, will see lower at the very least initial sales.

- Well, Gears of War 3 launches in September, so if for that alone, it will have no impact on Uncharted 3. Nevermind that it's only on the 360. Resistance 3 also launches in September and if anything, would be crushed by Uncharted 3 if it were to launch anywhere near it.

- Halo: CE Remake hasn't been confirmed, so that's useless to discuss at this point (not to mention, it's also only on the 360 and shouldn't affect Uncharted 3 in any meaningful way).

- As I mentioned above, I don't see all those games set for Nov launching in Nov. I think ME3 & BF3 will get pushed to 2012, leaving ACIII, Skyrim, & Modern Warfare 3 (or some kind of CoD).

- Some games may be affected, but the bigger ones probably won't be in any critical way (and believe it or not, Uncharted 3 IS one of the bigger ones).

End of the day, yes I'm speculating, but I think the final picture won't be much different than my viewpoint. You're free to disgaree, but we'll keep talking in circles if this continues on.

CGI is right. The only real competion Uncharted 3 has is Call of Duty and Assains creed. Though Uncharted 3 will most likely crush Asassins creed (360) it won't be anywhere near Call of duty. Skyrim, Forza 4 an battlefeild 3 (most likely delayed) will be minor threats but no big pushback in sales. Believe me the Uncharted and Call of duty crowd aren't really the same. People looking for quality will buy Uncharted 3 (as well as some casuals) and all casual games buy Call of duty (some hardcore as well) I think if Uncharted 3 gets some advertising it should hit 1-2-1.5 million LT. Reviews and plenty of marketing should get this game up to 2 million FW. It should sell around 6-6.5 million FW which is really good.

This looks like the biggest Sony game in America it'll be tough if it passes God of war 3.

It should pass God of war- God of war had about 480k preorders in America. Plus U2 and GoW3 are pretty much neck and neck in the states.

You shouldn't worry so much about U3, that is one of the (few) PS3 exclusives that is a guaranteed success. What you should really be worrying about is Twisted Metal...

I wouldn't worry much about PS3 exclusive games at all, as most of them don't do as bad as people make out.

Yes, I agree. I just doubt that releasing Twisted Metal in such a crowded season is the way to go for Jaffe.

Post september boom- pre november onslaught. Seems pretty good where it is tbh. Plus a game like that won't be on the preorder chart until at most ten weeks out.
