The same lesson Sony learned with the PSP, listen Nintendo chose to use again old tech on their systems, MS and Sony won't. They will use current GPU which way beyond 2005 version. If the next Wii is only 5 times more powerful than a 6 year console, don't expect the others to do the same or lesser.

NGP is a moderate increase. Its not 25x more powerful than the PSP, like the PS3 is to PS2.

N6 is not going to be 'old gen'. Hell, we don't even know what it really is yet.

But, to have the streaming concept that can even do different things on each controller vs TV, etc. it has to be pretty powerful.

I am surprised you really think MSony will once again create a console that will take 3 years to be profitable after all that has happened this gen.

They will have a far more moderate approach and will want to be profitable within a year of launch at worst.

N6 will be significantly more powerful than PS360 and within reach of their succesors.

Going from PS2 to PS3 is moderate, because that's how Sony sees it. Dude, we were disscuusing how Sony did not learn from the PS3 when it comes to the NGP.

I am not saying the next Wii won't be powerful, I am saying we just saw with 3ds and NGP how things will work out on the console front. Nintendo will have a very powerful system but it will be far behind the next consoles coming up.

This must be where we have a disconnect. PS1 to PS2 was moderate and really what most gens had in increases. PS2 to PS3 was massive and it forced Sony to have many years of solid losses, for not only gaming but the company as a whole as well. They won't repeat this.

psp is pretty much a ps2, but the ngp is less powerful than PS360. (granted it hasn't launched and my assumptions are based on what I saw demoed/discussed)

Modern shader architecture and cross platform game engines makes the horsepower itself not as relevant.

Exactly.... and, to psrock and those arguing with me, this why N6 will be far closer to PS360's succesors in raw power and cost than they seem to think.

You think as if this new one is to compete with PS3/360, maybe for one year, but MS/Sony won't just sit there and do nothing. I expect new HD systems announce next year.

yes, and they will be only slightly more powerful. They won't have another 20x increase in power. They will be like the xbox to the ps2.

Dude the PSP is also less powerful than the PS2.

We are going from less powerful ps2 to less powerful PS3, huge gap.

What has Sony or even MS done or say to give you that impression?

Sony always want to introduce new tech. They won't , I repeat won't go for moderate, they go all out. That's why I love them.

As they did in the PS and PS2 eras.

Sorry, but from what I've seen/read PSP is pretty much a PS2. While I'd argue on my limited knowledge that the NGP is significantly lower than PS3 or 360. Its a far more moderate jump.

3DS and NGP will be close enough to have the same ports with uniqueness to come in the form of NGP's back touch sensor and 3DS' 3D.

Same will be with next gen consoles. All three will have same 3rd party titles with uniqueness on their setups.

3DS has multiplatform development. The list I saw was a huge list of games from all makers. Additionally, its very early in its life. As more games come and 3DS expands, this will be more apparent. Especially as games like SSIV continue to dominate sales.

I already addressed the Wii, its all based on costs for developing on a completely unique console. We've discussed this before and basically agreed.

You don't understand what I am talking about. What I mean with 3DS/Wii multiplatform development are games that are released for the 3DS and the Wii. Basically developing for the 3DS as the lead platform and then porting it to the Wii, only adjusting for the lack of 3D (which should be no problem at all) and the different controls (which should not be much of a problem for the majority of games).

ok, I see what you mean.

I think those have simply written off Wii due to my previous posts. 3DS is a new system and a handheld.

So... did you hate them when they released the PS2? or PS as related to the general capabilities of the generation before it?

Just like the Wii is close enough to have ports with its uniqueness, but it never happened.

I think you believe PS and PS2 is close enough because of the early games. There is a huge gap between those two though.
