Forums - Sony - This is the best Demons Souls review ever! :D

And by best I mean funniest. This guy does amazingly funny reviews.

But be warned he trashes pretty much every videogame ever in his reviews (but thats what makes the reviews so funny)

Although I do have to say i'm kind of scared to get this game now because I really do no like overly hard games (and Demons Souls kind of looks like it is overly hard)

Unfortunately, much of what he says isn't entirely accurate. The first thing the game tries to teach you (and it does this repeatedly) is to always be cautious, because pretty much any enemy in the game can kill you if you are too careless. Blindly sprinting through an unexplored area is dangerous. In the case of the dragon instakill, he was entirely at fault. If he made it to that point in the game, he must have already sucessfully crossed 1 bridge with a killer dragon. Any sensible person would be extra careful when crossing a silimar bridge in the same castle.

Being dead isn't really a handicap, because there are different benefits to being in soul form and human form. Some things can only be achieved in one of the two forms, and with a cling ring you max HP can be increased to 75%. If an enemy is in the middle of a combo, and you step back once, it makes sense that the other blows in the combo will hit you even if you avoid the first one. You also can't dodge properly unless your equipment burden is less than 50% of max.

If you plan to enchant a weapon with an item doing so from inventory is silly, it should be equipped in an item slot for quick access. The demon he faced, Phalanx, moves very slowly. If he put enough distance between himself and the demon, he should easily have been able to access the inventory to enchant his weapon. The game seeks to be tough, but fair. To that end, emenies that can heal also take the same amount of time as the player to eat healing items and are of course left momentarily vulnerable. That strict fairness is also one reason acessing the inventory does not pause the game. The only safe place to fully relax is the Nexus.

Finally, messages are used in many ways; they don't always warn of danger. Since they can be left by any user, they are sometimes completely false. Some tend to be somewhat humorous, like the message warning about the deadly fall one foot in front of the player. The messages can be rated by other users and the useless ones eventually disappear, so most of the remaining ones are actually helpful. The game is hard, but not prohibitively so.

When I played Demon Souls, I wouldn't say it was hard perse. More along the lines of cheap. I had very little trouble with the handful of bosses I took down...

Sig thanks to Saber! :D

Demon Souls is easy ... if your a smart gamer.

Who's the best Pac, Nas, and Big. Just leave it to that.

I respect Yahtzee and I find him one of the most entertaining reviewers on the internet but I if I take this review to face value instead of his usual humorous nitpicky style of reviewing, it's fucking garbage. I won't go into detail at how wrong his review is because shuraiya covered pretty much everything I wanted to say(excellent post shuraiya).

Demon's Souls is one of the most well-crafted and excellently designed games for a reason. It may be hard for newcomers but it's not completely unfair. It has a very steep difficulity curve but if you take your time and slowly learn the game's mechanics, you'll be able deal with every encounter with a relative ease provided you have the right equipment and abilities.

Pretty funny, but Yahtzee can do better.

Demon's Souls is the hardest game you will ever play for about the first 5 hours, after that if you still are having difficulty you probably should stick to your FPS guns lolz.

I still find this review hilarious.

It's still extremely hard unless you read the walk-through in the Black Phantom edition or guides on the internet, which by some people is considered cheating.

if your message gets recommended, you get your health restored also, thats why you always see those "please recommend me!!" messages lol

it was a funny review and pretty entertaining, but i dont think he gave the game enough time, it seems like he never played online with anyone and well, thats understandable, he didnt get very far lol. you can only play online after the first boss and thats pretty much where he stopped playing.

ya other than that, if youre thinking about getting this, dont let the difficulty stop you, its not overly hard if you dont let it be, all the enemies can kill you, but you get pretty good at killing them first. my first time trying, i didnt even get as far as the reviewer did, but a month later i picked it back up and gave it a second try, it turned out to be a fantastic game. oh btw, its probably pretty cheap also, a great game for a low price! cant beat that
