Forums - Nintendo - Retro making Eternal Darkness 2 for Wii HD?

Given, what they have given to Retro to do in the past, unless this is a side project for 3DS, I doubt they would give it to Retro to revive. I'd figure they give them something along the lines of a Star Fox or another more higher profile IP that needs reviving.

* Crosses fingers for a new Earthbound game on the next console*

I want Eternal Darkness 2 outsourced to Kojima productions.

What is this? Someone had a cool idea and started a rumour!?

Here's a better rumour:

Retro are working on Metroid:Origins. A FPS adventure game that will launch alongside project cafe in beautiful HD. New to the fold is a portal-beam that allows puzzle solving mechanics similar to Valve's game, but with flora and fauna that cover the intricatery detailed areas. It is rumoured that the Original Metroid:Prime in HD is an unlockable treat for fans of the series. Retro have also built in a new revolutionary multiplayer mode that might just be the CoD killer we've all been hoping for.

Seriously.

What next? Nintendo trying to get some exclusive mainline Resident Evil games on their new console? Yeah, I can see how well this would work to get the hardcore market back.

The thing is, Nintendo can't recapture what they never had in the first place. Additionally, the hardcore market defines itself through not playing on Nintendo systems.

This should be quoted on every thread about the new nintendo console.

OT: That would be nice, I really enjoyed the gamecube one :)

hmm would be interesting

Seems like a step down for Retro to me.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Just one? More like falling down the staircase.

Nonsense. There is no inherent prestige to any given property that determines what can or can't be done with it, save as a lower limit. The least we could expect out of Retro is what Silicon Knights managed to do, and even though I loved the original Eternal Darkness I would expect that Retro could make an experience that would be really timeless and genre-defining.

Eternal Darkness uses a lot of powerful themes and timeless ideas (particularly fear of the unknown) - combine that with Retro's even-handed design and penchant for superior storytelling in game media and you'd get something that is really special.

Making up a rumour about Retro making Eternal Darkness 2 should be considered a hanging offence.
