Well it's minimum power will be PS360 level, so the easy thing to do for devs will be to take those games

But I think we all know that Sony and M$ will blow Nintendo out of the water in terms of power

I disagree.

You need to read my other Nintendo thread (see link in sig), but MSony have learned a valuable lesson about $600 consoles that sell for a loss vs $250 systems that sell for a profit and are marginal upgrades from last gen.

MSony will only show a 5-6x performance increase over this gen as compared to the 10-15x they saw against last gen. They will want to launch around $400 max with a profitable or near profitable system (no $200plus loss per item).

They won't want to wait 3 or more years to begin making a profit on the hardware. They will want to be at that level immediately or within its first year.

Isnt NGP around 10-15x more powerful then PSP? I would think so.

It all sounds good and exciting, but the whole Skyward Sword thing...does that mean it will be over a YEAR until we see it? I hope not...

That comment basing it on the Pokemon line makes me wonder if it's just lifted from that, not any sources.

There's a Pokemon line?

At any rate, I certainly hope so! Without it I'll be very upset with no game to buy over September-November, well, aside from Xenoblade of course...

"Nintendo is thinking about launching Zelda: Skyward Sword around the same time as Wii 2 since Wii 2 is backwards compatible with Wii 1 games.  They want to follow the same strategy when they launched Pokemon Black/White when 3DS was coming out."

That makes me think she's just surmising and passing that off as sources.

Yeah, that does seem a bit too similar...

The only source I'll trust is either Reggie, Iwata or Miyamoto. Until I hear something from them about it it's all just a big scrambled mess of maybe-truth and people cashing in on people's excitment I reckon.

And third parties praying for a third system to buffer their game overspending, instead of just not spending as much on their games and focuing on talent in making their games instead of showing off.

Want to know why the Wii and DS took off? It wasn't due to new controls alone (that's the lazy man's explanation), but due to games that people wanted (whether or not they used the new controls) even when the wow factor wore off (why either NSMB has better legs than either Galaxy).

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

"Nintendo is thinking about launching Zelda: Skyward Sword around the same time as Wii 2 since Wii 2 is backwards compatible with Wii 1 games."

If this is true the new console will be out in early 2012? I dont' think they will push Zelda to late 2012? Or do they?

Yes and almost all videogamer think that the NGP is dead before arrival. it will go the Way of the PSPgo.

"Expect games to be coming to the console that you would never expect"

With all the stuff about this being similar power to PS360, should this mean quite a few ports from stuff like CoD, Assassin's Creed etc? At least in the crossover before PS4 and something else

I think most said more powerful. But as devs are just now getting it, it may be awhile before its true power capabilities are determined.

Nintendo will want to be about 3-4x more powerful in order to be adequately prepared for eventual next gen xbox/ps.

I don't think Sony and Microsoft will insanely up the power like they did this gen unless they hold off on launching the PS4/720. Sony is still picking themselves up from the disasterous PS3 launch, and I doubt they can afford to release a console with THAT much power unless it comes with a catch.

That's correct, but even if they do release the games we want, it's just that. 1 company. I don't think Nintendo can afford another gen with no 3rd party exclusives (bar a few), or quality support, even if they release 3 galaxy-quality games and a couple zeldas and revive who know how many franchises, like this gen.

It'd be fine for me, but other people don't feel the same way...

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Aye, i would doubt this because of that...

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Source? There is no knowledge at the moment of its real capabilities and I'm willing to wager its less than 10x the power of the PSP and probably only 2-3x more powerful than the 3DS. This is well within the range Nintendo will want for its next hardware vs theirs. Devs will easily port accross all three at this level as demonstrated in last gen with PS2 and Xbox/GC.

Um, if they keep selling deca platinum games, they can afford it. Just more support would be better, not vital.
