Thankfully we also banned Darkai, or you would have destroyed us all with it

Well I also put the sleep clause as a rule so that Sleep cannot be abused, especially in a 3v3 match. I mean, a sleeping Pokemon is pretty much a dead Pokemon (or set up fodder), especially in Black/White. Now when you switch out a sleeping Pokemon, the sleep meter resets back to 0 turns.

But yes, Darkrai is a cheap bastard. I mean, at least Breloom and Parasect were slow with their Spore... but Darkrai is a fast annoying dude. >_<

Huh, i'd have to clone my entire team, since i'm shooting for 53 on all of them just to fight the Elite Four, and no way would i do it all over again :/

I'd figure luck would will out in terms of the OHKO moves (to remove them from banned status). I think i've only ever seen Guillotine work once, ever, and that was back on Silver.

Double Team i'll agree is broken. They should have added a mechanism similar to Detect on it, except that it would apply across the whole battle (Detect's just affecting consecutive uses, Double Team could drop to, say, 75% chance of working after the first hit)

Yeah, self evasiveness moves (and items) are banned because there's really nothing the opponent can do about them. However, accuracy lowering moves like Sand-Attack and Smokescreen are alright because the opponent can always switch out to nullify the effects.

I mean, there's things like Odor Sleuth and the like but come on... no one's using those.

Not only is he a fast annoying dude, he's a fast annoying dude who can learn all the good special attack TM's and can be shaped up to counter almost anything before you can react >_>.

Dark Void --> Nasty Plot ---> (Insert Special Attack of your Choice) = DOOM!

Let's see if i can participate in time. But it will be hard now with Portal 2 eating my gaming time. :p

And btw, why are Victini and Celebi banned, are they broke?

All legendaries are banned. Not that they're particulary broke (as their base stats are at the same level of the pseudo-legendaries), but mostly because of abusive signature moves, like Victini's Searing Shot, Jirachi's Doom Desire and so on.

No, that doesn't mean they are broken. A good example of what is broke is the first two Pokémon in your sig.

- Good sweeping power

- Excelent coverage

- good stats

That doesn't mean they are broke too, they are just effective.

And, unlike most legendaries with similar stats, Garchomp and Salamence have effective counters against them, given their 4x Weakness to Ice.

One could also argue that Celebi and Victini also have good sweeping power, Victini especially, since at 100 Base Speed, there are not a lot of pokemon that can outspeed it, and Searing Shot has enough power to OHKO a lot of pokemon, even when it's not a super effective move (I used it during my entire White main story playthrough).

So you get a great pokemon, with an unique move that can give it an huge edge over the rest. Anyway, that's the way I see it, so it's basically just my opinion. Legendaries are also mostly banned during Shoddy Battle rules and even in-game (Battle Frontier, Battle Station) they find themselves banned as well.

Just an heads-up though...I wouldn't worry too much about Garchomp and Salamence, they're not the real threat of my team. For that, there's Hydreigon and Haxorus

Why use searing shot, when that only have a 30% chance to inflict burn to your target? >_> Other than that, is just a weaker Fire Blast to Victini.

Don't forget its ability. You don't want to waste your Victini with 100% acc moves like that.

Also, there are alot of Pokémons that can walk in front of that and even force Victini to switch. Look at those in your sig again. The best thing Victini could do, at least to the dragons, is run a SUB set, Will 'o Wisp (the only reliable instant burn move he have) them and then switch as soon as he could. Same goes for Tyranitar, and even worse for the ones like Blissey. Wich obligate you to swich, or, running a set with brick break.

My take is that the only way to Victini being broke is if it could abuse of the burn. And that is great against the best sweeping power horses in the game. Excadrill for example. A Pokémon that can only be affected by the burn status change and have one of the best base atk for non-legendaries Pokémons.

But i just saw Smeags reply. Do'h >_<

About your team. Yeah, i won't fall for your trap. I see you want people to believe you actually run a team with great disvantage for ice and Dragon. :PPP

My team is all about movesets, careful IV breeding and EV training

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Victory Star effect activate only in Double and Triple Battles?

Yeah, it's only for Double and Triple Battles. Makes sense though, given the Ability's description.

Hmmm, this whole conversation has given me an idea for future pairings (to try in-game).

Victini&Darkrai together ---> Dark Void becoming almost perfect in accuracy ---> ???? ----> Profit

???? could be a slower move like Solar Beam or Sky Attack. Or Dream Eater, but there's better stuff on tap if you're using Pokemon like that

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
