Would Nintendo be considered generally to be Japanese? If yes, I would say more Japanese. Otherwise Western at least for this generation.

is that a serious question!?!

please say its not.

lol it wasn't meant to be serious but I thought maybe this meant Japanese Style vs Western Style, nintendo is like a slightly different beast.

Add: Basically the old argument of JRPG, Hack and Slash vs Shooters and WRPG.

I definitely prefer Japanese styled games.  But I do like some Western ones - just not wRPGs and FPSs.  I like Little Big Planet, Uncharted, Prince of Persia, and Tomb Raider for example.  The FPS genre is just becoming too generic by popular demand where it seems that you play one and play them all.

I agree with Wagram about wRPGs.  I find alot of cliches that people don't seem to point out (defending the empire against an alien race, LOTR / Star Wars / Star Trek themes and character classes, shallow moral choices, etc.)  Even though Japanese games have their cliches, they don't bother me as much for some reason.

On the topic of guys looking like girls in Japanese games, which seems to bug many people - I don't really care since I'm confident in my masculinity.

HUH!!!!!! masculity!?!

I thought you were a woman!

Seriously?  I just have a chick in my avatar (a character I love very much).

Nope.  Straight male here, lol.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Sort of confused, since this thread seemed more about style, from the OP talking about anime characters and what not.

Regardless my answer pretty much is both, but more so western the past couple of years (unless you add in my awesome DS).

your very feminin.

I just like good games

I'm unique

My top 2 favourite games of this gen, are japanese: MGS 4, Demon's Souls.

But generally I like western games more, because these are the only japanese games that I have liked. All other games that I like are western like Assassins Creed, Uncharted, God of War, Darkness, Killzone, Gears of war, etc.

You know what I will just say I like both, more so Japanese because of the DS. Also my favorite Nintendo game this generation is actual western developed DKCR.
