No, your narrow-mindedness is the thing that offends me. Think of the many possibilities that became of this situation that he's in before coming to a conclusion and jumping into the deep end, or be prepared to be torn a new asshole:

1. The figure could have been $9,872, and he pitched in the remainder.

2. The figure could have been an insignificant amount over $10,000. If this was the case and he posted two transactions, fanboys would be jumping up and down saying "look how much of an attention seeking crybaby he is. He had to even show the $12.60 transaction!!!"

Those are two possibilities that you completely disregard. If I see that you posted in the "George Hotz flees the country" thread also jumping to conclusions, well....it's pretty easy to see what side you're willing to take with possible fabricated material.

It's not narrow-mindedness, it's simply me disliking some cocky arsehole.

I want to mock him and throw numerous forms of abuse his way. Seeing that you aren't the Internet police, I should be allowed to do this. You should not be so... How do I put it... "Attached" to George. Seriously, if me taking the piss and having giggles winds you up so much, I feel sorry for you.

Oh, I LOVE the irony of this post!

You talk about your rights to wander on here and say what you like, but watch out if George Hotz exercises his right to free speech too.

And you're calling HIM the attention seeking crybaby? HAH!

I dunno...  Let's say you heard that there was someone who was fighting for a cause you believed in.  This guy needed financial backing, asked for it, and you supported him.  But then he failed in fighting for that cause, but you later found that the funds you donated were being used for something else.  Wouldn't you feel that you had been a slap in the face?  You could have used those funds for gas, feeding your family, paying for housing, or it could have went to a specific charity that you know the funds would have been properly used.  But technically speaking, I'm sure geohot was mocking Sony.  What else could he do?

You seem to ignore that fact that when he first asked for donations he said all money he didn't use would go to the EFF. Which is what just happened. If people are upset about it, than it's their own fault for not paying attention when they initially donated.

But could he have continued fighting in court for the "rights of the little guy" with $10,000 in his back pocket?

Okay.

I can't say whatever I like. There are the forum rules, you know.

Big difference too - I'm not crying, and I'm not begging for money to fight a mega evil company. Or begging people to never buy said companies products. Or rapping.

Once again, say some stupid conclusion on a forum, you'd better be prepared to stand up for your argument. Your defense of "Whatevah. I do wha I want!" is not gaining you any credibility on your stance.

Oh, and begging? Quite a play on words there, don't you think? "Pleeeease don't buy Sony products. I beg you!" Getting a bit dramatic, aren't we?

You want your rights to speak freely, then respect other's rights to do the same, whether it be rapping or requesting assistance.

yes, yes he could. I fail to see your point though.

He released this screenshot to the public with a statement to mock Sony.

He lived up to his promise and donated the extra proceeds to the EFF

Graf_Chokolo proves that people weren't just donating so the hackers could "fight for their rights" some just didn't want to see the little guys buried under the big coporations

If people are upset with the way this played out than they can just shut up

Sig thanks to Saber! :D

"And please expound on another probable reason."

Fordy calm down.  Carl could of been quite easily making a joke

I don't really have an argument. I'm not arguing anything. You're the one arguing because of your attachment to him.

I'm having fun, mocking someone who I dislike. I'm allowed to do this on this website. The owner of this Website allows me to do it. The person who made VGChartz, lets me mock George Hotz. And I love it.

Stop being so defensive over some guy you have probably never met. Let your hair down. Chill out. Stop making this into something it isn't. You're starting to ruin my fun.

Geohot asked for donations to fund his lawsuit.  Otherwise, he would not have been able to continue.  But he didn't continue when he has the funds because it was a loosing battle.  He caved in to Sony's demands because he didn't have a leg to stand on.  Otherwise, he would have continued to fight to win the lawsuit.  You got my point, and you know it.  Please don't deny yourself.  I will proudly charge you as an FIF member to reasonably and logically think for yourself and don't pick side because you have a bias against a company.

Ok ok.

1. I don't see what this has to do with the topic at hand

2. Neither side won. And if you think one did you are sadly mistaken. This case was to set future legal precedence in case something like this happened again. If Sony won they could easily bring it up to anyone who dared hack the PS3 again and bury them easily. If Geohot won a hacker could bring it up(then be buried in legal bills by Sony and lose) and potentially win

3. Sony spent at least a million(probably more in the two range) to take on Geohot. And you think they won with an order for him to stop hacking Sony products?

4. Geohot chickened out and looked like a tool to the people that were watching

Neither side won.
